Re: mailing a check to the US

A few years back I had a US client who mailed me a check to Lima by mistake and they could no reissue another. So I had to go to FedEx to mail it back to a family member. This was before banks had online check cashing. Anyway, FedEx charged me $50 b/c checks were required to be sent using the overni...

If you control the domain name I would just change the MX record to different provider. You can still keep the web site/domain hosted at the same host. Just have whoever hosts the DNS to point the MX to the new provider. So just your mail for that domain will be managed seprately. Google and Amazon ...

Re: US DirecTV package in Peru?

I was wondering if the whole US equipment could be used.... Since geostationary satellites are above the equator, I thought we could catch the signals, but I guess maybe they are sending it in an angle towards North America? I was not clear in that yes, from everything I've read on satellite forums...

Re: US DirecTV package in Peru?

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news but South America DirecTV does not use the same satellite as North America. South and Latin American use their own geostationary satellite. The farthest south the US satellite can be reached is Northern Venezuela and you have to use an incredibly large dish. J...

Re: In the ''hood''.

I was used to live at Avenida La Paz in San Miguel. I didn't have to switch on TV to see some action. I just had to sit on my terrace and look at what's happening on the street. It was like watching a Hollywood action movie. Crack dealers, pimps, hookers, homeless people, cars full of undesirables ...

In the US: on my patio I enjoy Macallan 12 year old single malt scotch with a Nicaraguan Padron cigar. In Lima: at Los Inkas on pizza st, a free pisco sour followed by crappy Peruvian beer (it's all crappy), poker with friends, people watching and having a great time. I miss it. See ya in a few week...

American craft beers (especially IPAs) put to to shame most everything I've tried overseas with the exception of Guinness. Belgian beers are way over hyped. Chimay tastes like carbonated lighter fluid.

PS 2 - I guess I will need to research this, but if we are staying for only a few months of the year, I would still retain tourist status and therefore, not be subject to any Peruvian laws with respect to taxes, property, marriage, etc. BBB If you exceed 6 months in a calendar year living in Peru y...

I am curious how much they charged in Peru for the fight? It costs $75 on DirecTV in the US so I'll be watching it on a live stream. Personally I am looking forward to the Klitschko / Povetkin fight if it actually goes off.

Peruvian Coffee at Whole Foods

Here is some coffee I have been buying at Whole Foods in Orange County, CA. It's usually roasted same day or at most 1 day prior to my purchase. It's fantastic brewed in an Aeropress and using a manual hand burr grinder. Anyway I'm curious if anyone knows where this coffee might be sourced in Peru? ...
