tasa anual: limited DIGEMIN hours

Please note that as of January 2014, the DIGEMIN Brena, Lima location accepts tasa anual payments (US$20) from 1pm-6pm. Bring a copy of your carne extranjeria. First go directly to Banco de la Nacion. Then be prepared to wait (we waited for almost 2 hours). Remember that the tasa anual is due Januar...

Re: Whats needed for residency

Knowing how the Peruvian system doesn't work, you're taking a risk if you go in with outdated information. You might find you get partway through the process only to have to start over. Good luck.

Re: Place to stay for a family wedding in Lima in Feb

A US friend had good luck with www.vrbo.com. Since you know Lima, you'll be in a good position to know the locations, too.

Re: Tasa Anual procedure for this year

I need to renew my carne. My Peruvian husband and I were married in Washington, DC, and obviously we had to have our marriage registered with Peru (RENIEC, I think?) in order to get my carne in the first place. We have hired a laywer who says he has gone to all the municipalities and not found our m...

Re: Child support

It seems like your husband needs to consult with (1) the US Dept of State in the US, especially the Dept of Overseas Citizens Services, (2) a lawyer specializing in international family law, and (3) the Peruvian consulate in the US. Hopefully he has a court statement indicating what he is legally ob...

Club Chair for Sale

This microsuede, super-comfortable chair is in Very Good condition. We bought it recently from another expat family, but unfortunately it won't fit in my new apartment. It will look great in yours! Asking $300.

Re: Training potty seat

We bought training seats for the toilet in SodiMac. I've seen them in Wong a couple of times but those were really expensive. My little one loves using his seat on the toilet. It's really important to get a step stool for their feet, too (also useful so they can reach the sink to wash their hands). ...

Re: Reputable International Moving Company

We just moved from Washington, DC, and I contacted a few of the international movers listed on movingscam.com I ended up working with Bayshore Allied (about $5000 for two crates), and also had reasonable estimates from Suddath International and Stevens International. The quote you're getting is pret...

Package stuck at FedEx

My folks sent a package to me via FedEx with my Vonage phone and unsurprisingly it is stuck at customs. Supposedly they need the original invoice, although I'm hoping to show them this is a personal use item. My question is: where do I go to get my FedEx package? I can't find anything on the FedEx w...

Re: intercultural love relationship -- does it works ?..

I'm an American woman engaged to a Peruvian man who I met online in the US. It seemed that many of these posts were about Peruvian women and gringo men, so I wanted to offer a different perspective. I agree with those who have suggested that while there are aspects of these relationships that are cu...

Cat supplies and food in Lima

I'm moving from Washington, DC, to Lima later this month with my two cats, and would love to continue using the same food and litter if at all possible. Has anyone come across Royal Canin foods or World's Best Cat Litter? Also, has anyone had problems with introducing their cats to the water in Lima...
