Specifically magazine subscriptions

Hi, expats. Am returning to Peru and would like to know what kind of luck anyone has had receiving magazines directly from the source by mail to Peru. I do not need to forward much other mail, so have no need for some of the suggestions here regarding PO Boxes, services, etc. Just want to know if an...

Re: Peru Haiku

Soltero, you gave me my first laugh on Christmas Day, two hours behind Lima time, here in icy snow-covered Montana...very on-point haikus!

Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Re: Terrorism in Peru... still

Mateo, I hope that when you get to be 50 or 60 something years old you remember your insensitive and ageist remark, but then you will never be a woman. As a woman in that age range who has endured endless rudeness and being pushed aside by punks both male and female in Peru, I resent your remark as ...

Re: Different types of flour HELP

Have you tried Madre Natura for whole wheat flour as well as other types of flour? Also, the mercado organico that they have on Saturday mornings on Benavides might purvey some of those. I am not a fan of Madre Natura in Miraflores at all because they are not the most helpful or friendly store, howe...

Re: Terrorism in Peru... still

Thanks, Renodante. I can relate to your method as that is probably what I, as a former big-city driver would do, too. However, in Lima I am most usually a pedestrian except when I am a taxi customer, which has often created enormous stress. Since my Spanish is so fluent, I usually tell the driver ve...

Re: Terrorism in Peru... still

Renodante, in all seriousness, would you tell me how you overcame your rage at Peruvian drivers? There is an off chance I might have to return to Lima to live, and I need to avoid "un infarto"! I was not able to afford frequent massage or Yoga classes, etc., now that Lima has become so pri...

Re: Terrorism in Peru... still

I disagree with whoever said that Peruvians are only bullies behind the wheel, and as a person who is half Peruvian, I will not hesitate to say that I experienced more rudeness in Trujillo than I ever have in my life, which has been long and nomadic. People will simply try to take your place in the ...

Re: Being Called Fat. Sensitivity issues.

As a Peruvian American woman who is considered "gorda" in Peru, I have to respond to this one, which amuses me no end. I first encountered the way Peruvians openly critique one's appearance (although I must add that it is not just limited to one's appearance, but they will also eagerly cri...
