Flowers, Marriage, Divorce in Peru

Does anyone else notice a pattern here? Expats asking for a recommendation for a florist, then asking for advice about bureaucracy to get married in a civil ceremony in Peru then posting about how to get a divorce? LOL

Healthcare in Peru: Shirley Melendez case

Absolutely gobsmacked listening to Ms. Melendez, an educated, articulate young woman and her experience. Lost her hands and feet. Seems everyone dropped the ball and no one is accountable.

Re: Music!

I got goosebumps watching a clip of the Parada Militar yesterday with PPK and members of the military dancing traditional huayno. The sun even came out on a winter day just for the occasion. Back to the topic, recommend me a good huayno video/artist...I believe this is an underrated genre which I'm ...

Re: Carpet Cleaning

There is a reason why carpets are a rarity in Lima, starting with the humidity. Carpets are unhygienic and impractical there. Eww... Like wearing the same pair of underwear for years and rinsing them once in a while as you are attempting to do.

Re: Peru quietly begins screening incoming airborne foreigners

In 2003 I went on vacation to Mancora. At the airport in Piura there was some American operation going on. One of the agents gifted me with a really cool poster. The poster in Spanish was meant to discourage drug trafficking. Someday I will sell it on Ebay or frame it. Peru doesn't have much regard ...

Re: Peru quietly begins screening incoming airborne foreigners

Similar, if not identical system, as the one used by Office of Biometric Identity Management by US Customs and Border Patrol, designed to identify risk prior to entry, instead of after the fact. That this is being paid for by the US comes as no surprise. It also coincides with the new Peruvian passp...

What is your immigration status? Pm me I have some contacts in the steel fab biz who might be able to give you an idea. Or maybe you could open a small job shop in the up and coming industrial corridor. Lots of API 650 tank welding going on up north and although Caliguy says things are different in ...

Definitely a generous and expensive gesture. Does anyone know of an NGO in Peru that addresses the pet over-population with a rescue facility and/or spay neuter? I would support the heck out of them.

USD4500 is somewhat high for a vehicle of that vintage. Do older cars in Lima customarily sell for double the Kelly Blue Book value here in the US? I kn...

Re: Child support laws

With the child being 6 years old, for sure he failed to legally define his financial obligation, whether through "conciliacion" which is binding, or through a court order. This prevents the child's mother from gouging him and forces her to work with a court ordered monthly amount, so yes, ...

Your success depends on the cooperation of your spouse because exequatur can be tricky. If things got physical as you stated in you...

Too little information provided to give you the answer you would like. Know that according to Peruvian law, up to 60% of your partner's income could be garnished to pay child support. There are exemptions and reductions but again, not enough information in your post. Your partner is lollygagging by ...

And to boot, near the mercado, is a bakery with the most extraordinarily fantastic house-made besos de moza chocolate desserts I have ever tasted.

After foolishly spending over USD100 on a mediocre buffet breakfast at the Marriott in retrospect the best breakfast I had was at the mercado in Callao. Pan con chicharron and freshly made fruit juice for two for PEN18. A delicious meal I won't forget soon. Also purchased fresh corvina for PEN20/kg ...

To Polaron:

That you simply accept it and move on means that

A) you're perfectly OK with leaving town for a few days and find it mildly inconvenient that a strange family has taken posession of your home

OR

B) you aren't planning on purchasing land or a home in Peru so you aren't affected
