Re: Kefir and/or kombucha starter cultures in Lima

We had a friend fly down from Florida with some water kefir grains. I am not sure shape they are in yet. Going to give them some TLC and get them producing again. So in the coming weeks, if someone is interested in water kefir grains, I hope to have some ready to give away. I gave up on the Kombucha...

Re: Kefir and/or kombucha starter cultures in Lima

I found bottled Kombucha at Eco Tienda Natural on San Martin in Miraflores - I've never tried to grow my own starter. How do you do that? I was hoping to find water kefir grains or Kombucha starter from someone once I moved here. We've only been here for about a month, so this is the first I have st...

Experience with Post Office Boxes?

Hello everyone - My husband and I have been in Lima for about a month. I'm concerned about the best way to received mail (Serpost). The building we live in does not really have a mailbox...or a doorman so it's a locked door and the only option is to leave mail outside - super secure, I know. I've gi...

Re: Do you wear shoes in your home?

No way! The streets and sidewalks here are so dirty, I don't want to bring that stuff inside. I take my shoes off immediately and slide on some comfy house slippers.

Wow. First of all, thank you everyone for your responses. I really appreciate your advice. As far as the battery acid subject, I´m going to go ahead and hold off on that purchase for a while!

Moving to Lima

Hey everyone - my husband and I are selling off everything and moving to Lima in July. We are moving for his job and have a place to stay for the first few days. While he's working, I'm going to be on my own, learning the lay of the land, finding a place to live, learning the language, basically fly...
