Re: New port in Chancay

I am looking forward to an additional container terminal. Most carriers only have one vessel per route per week. Hopefully this will now increase. I must admit that I also thought that Peru has sold a a part of its soul again. Here in Huanuco local government sold off a new hydro power plant for hal...

Re: Peru agro-exportation had another booming year !

Peruvian Import duties according to the China-Peru FTA are 9% for both clothing and footwear. FTA: http://fta.mofcom.gov.cn/topic/enperu.shtml You cannot simply blame Chinese traders for this. They see an opportunity and cash in on it. A lot of Peruvian consumers opt for cheap clothing and really do...

Re: Peru agro-exportation had another booming year !

Alleged dumping of Chinese textiles into Peru threatens hundreds of thousands of jobs in Gamarra, Lima’s historic garment district. This is actually quite strange. The import duties on clothing and footwear are quite high in Peru. Expats who order clothes from overseas complain on the various FB gr...

Re: Peru agro-exportation had another booming year !

Good morning, As a agri product exporter I may be able to shed some light on this. Ever since the superfood hype, some 10 years ago, agri products from Peru have been popular. PromPeru, an organisation that promotes Peru Tourism and Peruvian products, even uses the slogan "Superfoods from Peru&...

Re: Thinking of moving to Tarapoto. Who's out there?

Found them as well. But is seems there's a shortage of housing in Tarapoto and the offerings found online are quite steep. Most RE is sold through the informal network locally. So was hoping for some contacts.

One year and a bit later. Finally had time for a proper visit of Tarapoto. I have been living in the city of Huanuco since January 2015. First impressions of Tarapoto: ⋅  Green. The city is so green. Even for a jungle city, the city has incorporated a lot of vegetation. ⋅  Quiet....

Perhaps the cards were send via the EMS service (https://www.ems.post/en/about-us-contacts/about-us) that Serpost also uses. We use EMS all the time. 1. Do not send it by post or even a courier service. Chances are a lot higher that the parcel will be opened for inspection. 2. I have never been checked at the airport. That of course does not mean you will not be checked but I would just take my chances. I usually bring a lot of stuff from Europe ...

For $280 you can fly all the way to Santiago. Nazca lines flight should be available for around $50 p.p. If you have 3 or more people in your party then try to get a full plane discount. Google is your friend here.

In Huanuco that is considered on time :D

Most delays are caused by lack of capacity at Lima International. Quite often the entire airport is backup till a grinding halt because of ground traffic blockage. Seen it several times. Lima needs to expand quickly.

LATAM, Star Peru, LCPeru, etc are a member of IATA, which means they have to play by the rules set out by IATA. IATA has a consumer protection section that handles delays, cancellations, etc. More info: ⋅  http://www.iata.org/policy/consumer-pax-rights/consumer-protection/Pages/index.aspx ...
