Re: Underwater restaurant in Lima?

Everyone has their own personal preferences.
With the super competitiveness of restaurants, an underwater place would have a tremendous advantage plus the option of lodging makes this a possible good investment.

Re: Interbank charges/fees.

I am glad to see that at least one Peruvian bank is not taking advantage of expats.
With all those extra soles, will you be buying breakfast soon?

Underwater restaurant in Lima?

Do you think Lima will ever have an underwater restaurant? Certainly, a creative option to consider for investors, especially when lodging is an option to generate more income. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-norway-restaurant-underwater/going-under-europes-first-underwater-restaurant-opens-in-no...

Any list regarding anything is ripe for interpretation.
I was shocked by London especially with the recent Muslim influence.

Most livable cities in the world

Just stumbled upon this info & thought I would share with other expats.
I am perfectly happy living in Huaral, Peru; but if I was to do some traveling - these cities would appeal to me.
Enjoy your day.

Re: No one seems to know?

I use the word "customer" when I should probably say "consumer". The attitude of the US Embassy is what concerns me; they could care less about this issue that could affect every expat in some way. The Embassy has an abundance of staff & could easily designate at least one to...

Re: No one seems to know?

Jimmy as you may have realized by now, customer service is a major issue in all of Peru. It would appear you do have to come to Lima, but the process is very simple if you don't have to pay a FINE! For those interested, here is the latest response I have had from Migraciones (a great example of poor...

Re: How do I call/text a friend in Lima...

When you are trying to contact someone important in your life, worrying about what these two guys posted is not an issue.
These type of posts waste everyone's time & don't add "value" to expatperu.
I am thrilled the two parties have reconnected thanks to Alan.

This seems like a good opportunity, especially with the taxi service provided.
I am glad the post specifies the compensation as often this is missing.

Re: No one seems to know?

NO! When I picked up my renewal passport, the US Embassy did not advise me of having to register my new # with Migraciones or I would be subject to a MONTHLY FINE. When I notified them of this they told me basically "We are not responsible for advising/interpreting Peruvian law...". I hope...

Re: No one seems to know?

Just trying to be a good expat & share my experiences with others.
I feel the fine is quite excessive versus the minimal cost to comply with the law.
Just another "money grab" by a government that has all the power to do so.

I have continued to try to find answers to my post & I believe I have succeeded. Immigration law was changed in March 2017 by Legislative Decree No. 1350. This turned into Supreme Decree No. 007-2017-IN *Rules of Procedure". From the Migraciones web site discussing fines: 3. Not updating yo...

No one seems to know?

Re: Transfer tax for renewal passport?

You are probably correct, the money I had to pay was a- FINE even tho the Migraciones agent called it a tax. I was never aware there was a fee to register a new/renewal passport. I also paid an 18-19 soles fee (besides the FINE); this must be the fee to register a new/renewal passport. All expats sh...

Re: Transfer tax for renewal passport?

The fine for failing to transfer a renewed passport is currently 42 soles a month for 2019.
Once you pay the fee, your passport is stamped at Migraciones; I doubt there are any further fees.
I am hoping Alan or someone can get a copy of the law & post herein.

Tom's does have articles on VPN's.

Transfer tax for renewal passport?

This past week I went to Migraciones to change my address from Lima to Huaral on my CE. I was told there would be no (or minimal) costs to do this. I handed them my Renewal Passport which is required by the US every ten (10) years. I got worried when the person started crunching numbers on a calcula...
