Re: Does this make any sense?

G'day Woodchuck, I am with Scotiabank Peru for 3 months now. So I will tell you that they ALSO charge to receive international transfers. Their standard charge is $24.00 for any amount. I have heavily debated that with them, as it comes out of my transferred Aussie navy pension( by the Aussie gover...

Hold on. I think changes are under way. I expected a further month in the Vic. sorting office. I was wrong, parcel delivered b...

Re: Only 90 days allowed to US citizens

This literally just happened to me today as well. This must be a brand new policy. My girlfriend is a Peruvian citizen and we asked the consulate in DC no more than two or three weeks ago about tourist visas. They told us it was six months per year. Migraciones told us today that it’s now only 3 mo...

What exactly does it deal with? Sounds to me like the right hand still does not know what the left is doing. Same policy that has been intact for years.

A litany of things really complicate traffic here, beyond careless driving habits. The roads are very crowded, there are a ton of jay walking pedestrians, and there are multiple forms of vehicles moving at different speeds: slow trucks piled high with rubble, moto taxis, empowered 4x4s, dueling bus...

Besides being ignorant of Spanish, can you legally work in Peru? You need a CE or citizenship.
Are your skills on par with Peruvian standards?
Good luck and I hope you carry a spare battery for the cell phone translator machine.

Back in the day. Before, at Naturalisation and since, because of English documents. Everything has my middle christian name as the maternal. In fact it is very common for people to address me as Mr David. It does no harm and might be worth bearing this approach in mind. Problem with that, her middl...

Re: Apellido Materno for a baby born in Peru when the mother changed name upon marriage

Hello Lialia, I have always thought that the spanish-system for naming a person with the 2 last name one from the father and one from mother is far way better than the one last name's father as in the english-system . The Mother is who suffer more for having the baby and do not even have the right ...

I am a Canadian female married to a Peruvian male. We got married in Canada, and I changed my last name to my husband's. Subsequently, we moved to Peru, and on my CE I have only one apellido, which is the same as my husband's apellido paterno. We are going to have a baby (to be born in Peru), and I...

I visited Huaral, nice place but there is a total lack of decent food only the Peruvian, hmm, shall we say, fare(??), has that changed? Maybe a nice burger some place, like Macs? The Metro was so small like a 7 11 with no variety. At least there was Pepsi.

Re: Transferring $ from US to Peru

We have the same thing with transfers from the USA. it has to do with the fact that the banks use 'intermediate banks' which also charge a commission. In total the commission is like 81-89 usd. But on transfers of 6-9 thousand it is percentage wise a low cost compared to charging a credit card, whi...

Re: Transferring $ from US to Peru

I have quite an interesting situation at present with BCP. At the beginning of this month I transferred $2,500 from my British account to BCP here in Lima. I became a little confused when $2416 was shown as deposited followed with only an entry for tax. I contacted the bank who quite firmly informe...

Re: Looking for help from all musicians

Define "Folk Guitarist/music". I am assuming Peruvian folk but the guitar is not very prominent, many other 'folk' instruments will be needed. Unless you consider Peruvian Folk is beating on boxes, that is all you need, boxes and guys that beat them.
