Go to Claro and trade in your pager for a smartphone then download Uber app. You should be able to get a driver within 3-5 minutes.

Re: LIMA TRAFFIC

I've been avoiding driving in Lima, right after I shelled out for a car, because taking Uber is actually cheaper. Poor decision to buy a car probably but I wanted to get out of the city to explore. But now that I have a car I have to modify it for Peru, so that I stand out less when I'm driving, I p...

What's with all the FOR SALE signs?

:?: I just got back to Lima after spending 3 months in the states, and seems like everywhere I go, every building has "SE VENDE" sign. I don't remember seeing that many last year when I was here? Anything in particular that is happening in Real Estate market that everybody just feels like ...

Is Remax Legit? For buying an apartment?

We went to look at an apartment with my wife recently. She liked the place, but for me its really seemed like it could use a facelift, and I told her to offer less. The agent then told us that owner already has an offer for full price, and unless we give $3000 of a deposit and a written offer she is...

Re: Why I think Peru is one of the worst countries to live

You can eat for 4€ across all Europe. You just need to know the local places. There is no point for Peru as it is already more expensive than parts of western & south Europe... Here in Switzerland, the only place you can eat for 4 euros is out of a trashcan. Starbucks coffee costs same here as ...

Re: Why I think Peru is one of the best countries to live

Does Google street view even register the thousands of kilometers of roads criss-crossing Peru? I have no idea but I can promise you -- speaking from personal experience traveling by car throughout Peru -- that you will find an entire network of good driveable roads, many which are paved, or at lea...

Re: Could driver less cars succeed in Peru?

I've laughed in the past about even a smart car *with* a driver would have trouble here. Take a Tesla, for instance, where you can push a button and put it into its assisted-driving mode. Now imagine it trying to merge into traffic. HAHAHAHAHA. It is going to just sit there because its safety proto...

Re: Why I think Peru is one of the worst countries to live

Mr. Steak, did you ever venture outside Lima? You'll be amazed when you leave Lima. There are so many beautiful, safe and clean cities and towns in Peru. I lived in the country side for 6 years. Food was cheap, housing was cheap. It was safe. No stress. Waking up in the morning and heard the birds ...

Re: Why I think Peru is one of the worst countries to live

Mmmm not too sure about that Adrian. There's very little change in England in council tax and utility bills since I left in 2009 and since I've returned. Council tax is still about the £100 -£120 mark. Although the biggest change has been the crash in house prices since we voted for brexit with hou...

Re: Why I think Peru is one of the worst countries to live

I came to Peru on November 6, 2006, and I have had my moments. Real Estate prices are dropping because of the corruption. Simply put foreign investors are becoming less interested in Peru because of the corruption. I'm sure real estate will be much cheaper in the next years. Current prices are just...

According to this article http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style ... 88896.html , Peru is not the worst country to live in. Worst is Iraq. So we all can relax now, and enjoy the Peruvian life.
