Re: University Jobs...

These universities all have HR departments. First thing would be to send a resume and follow up with a phone call. Consider the location of the University, vis-a-vis where you will live. Note that universities, La Catolica and El Pacifico come to mind, have a separate entity that handles their Engl...

so though I would rather wait for the house price bubble to go 'pop' it might just not You definitely don't want to overpay then have something of little value in a few years. It is difficult to gauge when it might pop and when a bottom is reached. Remember what Confucius say, "He who pick bot...

Re: Lima at spot 121 in the Mercer "COST OF LIVING CITY RANKING"

I enjoy Lima a great deal. I lived in Buenos Aires a few years ago (I heard it has gone downhill since then...) and though I liked my life there, Lima is a far nicer city. The only thing it lacks over Buenos Aires is the metro/subte which went everywhere in the city, I know Lima has one line but whe...

I live and work in China teaching English. I am about to get my Peruvian DNI - what is the best way to approach universities here in Lima? There are a lot of universities in the city but is it about going to the language departments of the university and handing out CV's or does an actual vacancy ha...

Re: Why are most people in lima rude? Or close minded..

I don't think Peruvians are particulary rude, apart from when they're scamming you of course in shops and catching taxi's - that's the height of rudeness  Venezuelans are bearing the brunt these days of a lot of misfortunes of the city (here in Lima at least...) - hearing a chamo/a accent might...

Re: Where to begin...LDR w/ Peruvian Woman...

You need to go to Peru and spend quality time not just around her and her family but also her culture and her surroundings, because sooner or later you'll be there whether you want to be or you don't. You have no need to rush into marriage, you have just come out of one marriage as little as two yea...

Re: Magdalena Del Mar

Welcome to our forum! Like most of Lima's traditional barrios, Magdalena is in transition. Old family homes built in the 30's 40's and 50's are being razed to make way for 7 to 10 story apartment buildings. It's subjective of course, but I think it's a nice area with areas that maintain a real neig...

Re: Where I can find normal girl?

The best thing I can say about finding someone you like is... Be the person you seek If you want a fit, sporty, intelliigent girlfriend (hopefully to become a wife...) then become a fit, sporty, intelligent man and you will find someone who is something like. Lots of men want a hot girlfriend whilst...

Re: Magdalena Del Mar

I lived in Magdalena. I enjoyed it. Streets are kept clean, parks are looked after and the people are nice. A great mercado and loads of shops. There are good restaurants and bakeries. There are loads of beauty salons and hairdressers. There are no bars or nightclubs in Magdalena so it's quiet and ...

Re: So many fake people?!? Hard to make friends or relationships

The trick to life is finding contentment with your own company, the day you are happy with spending time with yourself is the day you'll find other people who will complement you - it takes a long time to find suitable people and there aren't many of these people for any one of us - but once you fin...

Learning Spanish at a Peruvian University

I am now a Peruvian citizen but my Spanish - whilst it isn't terrible - I am a non-native speaker of the language which means that whilst I am away from Spanish speaking environments (like the one I am in now - China! ) I tend to lose my ability to communicate, now I will be spending more and ...

Can't they find some single guys? I have seven Peruvian uncles, one of them has been married six times and ano...

Hi Folks, I was thinking more long term, good point about earthquakes though - I don't want to be 80 years old and watching my hard bought apartment by the beach fall into rubble due to an earthquake and I have then no house and would have to return back to the UK as a homeless auld dude! Hi everyone, I am new so please be gentle! :D I am one of those fortunate folks who is about to benefit from being classified as a 'Peruvian since birth' in regards the change of law concerning overage children born to Peruvian parents overseas. As a British citizen who might be losing 'freedom of m...
