Re: HELP! Real Estate Tax Question

Sad about your situation, but as non-residents in Peru , you will have to pay 30% tax on the profit in Peru. Had you been living in the house as your main dwelling and as a Peruvian resident it would be 3%

Car Mechanics

I have found after many years of looking a gem of a mechanical repair and service engineer in La Molina. First and foremost no surprises on repair charges, great workmanship, took good care of our car and the pricing was within budget. MAFECY: Avenue La Molina Este 1865 Sol De La Molina La Molina. T...

By accident I bumped into the website http://www.tin.com.pe/ some weeks ago. After reading I understood that all Peruvian bank account numbers are going to be standardized. The same way they have done it in Europe, by preceding you existing account number with unique bank codes. In Europe this stan...

Re: Apellido Materno for a baby born in Peru when the mother changed name upon marriage

Back in the day. Before, at Naturalisation and since, because of English documents. Everything has my middle christian name as the maternal. In fact it is very common for people to address me as Mr David. It does no harm and might be worth bearing this approach in mind.

Re: Transferring $ from US to Peru

We have the same thing with transfers from the USA. it has to do with the fact that the banks use 'intermediate banks' which also charge a commission. In total the commission is like 81-89 usd. But on transfers of 6-9 thousand it is percentage wise a low cost compared to charging a credit card, whi...

Re: Transferring $ from US to Peru

A quick update and a big thank you to English professionals. BCP responded to my complaint with four or five hours and promised to investigate together with implementation of an alternative method to confirm costs. I received an email the next day asking me to comment on the process. I have not rece...

Bad news for Venezuelans. They are not welcome anymore in Brazil. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0zpJ033FZc The borders are virtually closed in Ecuador and from the 25th August Peru are only allowing Passport holders to cross in to Peru. On Sunday a new revalued currency is being introduced, remo...

Re: operating a motor-bike or electric scooter

To obtain a Peruvian license, you’ll need to pass a written exam, a practical driving test, and a medical exam. Not quite correct. As an Expat if you hold a current full driving license from your home country and are willing to get it certified you can avoid the practical exam. The written part is ...

Re: Transferring $ from US to Peru

Have you heard of Transferwise from the US? as they work here with the banks in Peru. I know BCP charges between 25 and 35 Dollars for no matter how much you want to transfer from the US using transferwise. I've been using Transferwise to receive my money from China to the US in Dollars and it cost...

Have a look at this https://www.globalmediapro.com/content/WhatAreBENSHAOURPaymentInstructions And on top of that, the BCP will charge its fee .. I could not agree more. Curious as to why you are so quick to take the word of your UK bank. I think I would become heated and have a little trouble showing respect too, if I where BCP. Quite right too. I would expect nothing less from a bank employee. This is precisely why I waited for the confirmation letter from HSBC i...

Re: Transferring $ from US to Peru

I have quite an interesting situation at present with BCP. At the beginning of this month I transferred $2,500 from my British account to BCP here in Lima. I became a little confused when $2416 was shown as deposited followed with only an entry for tax. I contacted the bank who quite firmly informed...

If you have something you wish to keep hidden go to a lawyer, but I would suggest you go ahead and complete the document. Re: Is Remax Legit? For buying an apartment?

Remax is legal. The agents are generally running small franchises, receiving commission on sales. It is quite common for them to reduce their share to secure a sale. I would not be surprised if a little greasing is required with other interested agents. The original seller may in fact be asking less...

We should have learned to not generalize or having pre-conceived ideas about a group of people who belongs to a race, nation, country, etc. The problem with that kind of pre-conceived concepts is that almost always let us to very wrong conclusions I am sorry if you misunderstood my comment. Why do some foreign refugees & too many Peruvian citizens seldom obey the Preferencia rules? People who are NOT Preferencia are always trying to cut into the line - especially at the bank. Several weeks ago a well-dressed guy in his 40's (at best) got in front of me. I told him "This is th...
