Re: Help- Crossing the Border on an overstayed visa

There is a new crossing between Tumbes and Huaquillas, the Peruvian and Ecuadorian customs are in the same building and are in fact sitting next to each other. I got in one line to check out of Peru and another line to check into Ecuador, a new building and a lot safer, a simple crossing but very i...

40 days is harsh. Always check the stamp before walking away... bitching has gotten me an extension a couple of times.

Re: fútbol/soccer - getting tickets Peru national team in Lima

Last time i went to a Peru match we bought the tickets a couple of blocks from the stadium on the day of the match... asked the police at the stadium where we could buy the tickets and they ended up driving us there. This was almost 5 years ago and it wasn't at the national stadium in the center of ...

This doesn't help but to this day i still can't understand why people use one glass to drink beer in a group, pass it around but they ever drink all of it, the last bit either ends up on the ground or in a little glass set aside.

Gas vs electric oven

I've been used to using electric ovens as far back as i can remember but recently had a gas oven in Peru, when i return to Peru in a couple of months i need to buy an oven. What would you recommend? I want to use the oven a lot so which would be the most cost effective? I have no idea how much an el...

Re: Paying by the hour.

Am i right in saying that the minimum wage is monthly? How do they determine the hours worked? Also what would a fair wage per hour be outside of Lima? I know receptionists who are getting 20 Soles for 7.5 hours... so does 2.75 per hour for unqualified work seem reasonable? Or could the pay be 2.50 ...

Re: Bullfighting in Peru

I've never seen bullfighting but in La Selva there are many arenas where they have cockfighting. Sadly, cockfighting is legal in Peru. Recently went to my first cockfight in Peru, had been before in India but they were completely different... In India it was a Sunday afternoon family occasion with ...

Suncha, I'm sorry but that is not correct information. There are a lot of people on this forum who have been asked to show proof of return or onward travel; it's put some people in a bad situation when they were checking in at the airport. Whether Peru immigration cares or not is a moot point - the...

I'll never get used to it, especially the taste. The only way i can drink the milk in Peru is by boiling it and adding sugar.

Re: Do Peruvians need a transit visa for Spain?

I would say yes. You probably arrive in Madrid Barajas in terminal 4S. If your next flight leaves from any other terminal you will have to pass immigration and take a bus to another terminal. So then you are in Spain, and there would be not any control from simply entering illegally in Madrid. For ...

Totally agree with you Ton. Verde taxis from the airport are always good, they have a desk but someone will probably approach you, they'll have an official ID. You guys are now bringing back memories. During the nineties hardly anything was available from the states.
