Veggie Pizza

Anyone have input on this new vegetarian pizza place that opened recently? Trip Adviser reviews are mixed. Some say great, some say bland.

Re: last lunch in Lima

Thanks for all your input. Our last three meals were at El Bigote, Café Café, and Pardo's chicken right before we left our apartment at 11:00 pm for our 1:20 am flight. Nothing spectacular, but we had many memorable meals during our 2 month stay.

I see that Carnal Steakhouse on Elias Aguirre in Miraflores has King Crab on their menu. Not sure how they prepare it, possibly steamed, which I prefer. You might give them a call to ask about it. Good Luck! Let us know about your search.

duty-free alcohol purchases

Hi there. Anyone had an experience doing this? Used to be you couldn't pass through security in the US with any duty-free alcohol items, unless you checked them into your luggage. Flying from Lima to LA, then on to San Francisco. Appreciate any input.http://edition.cnn.com/2014/01/31/travel/tsa-inte...

Re: Restuarant recommendations

Agreed. However, reviewing the OP, this person is on a business trip in Miraflores (probably not much extra time to travel around areas of Lima) and has his expenses paid, so does not have to bargain shop for restaurants. Just trying to be helpful here.

He is in Miraflores, don't have to go to San Miquel. Here's a restaurant specializing in food from Northern Peru in Miraflores.

Here are some of my recommendations: Eliazar Restaurante on the mezzanine level in the Atlantic City Casino on Benavides. Re: Rooftop bar/restaurant in Lima?

Actually, the hotel on Benavides and Larco is the Estelar. They have a top floor restaurant and bar. Thunderbird is on the next corner of Alcanfores. Don't think the Thunderbird has anything on the top floors except rooms and apartments.

if you're in and around Zorritos

After almost a week of seafood, we had lunch yesterday at Casa Adina in Zorritos. Had the half rack of baby back ribs and baked sweet potato. Delicious! Think it was around 35 soles. Other great menu items as well.

Re: Plastic bags

Where I lived for a while in the states they'd give you a funny look at the check out line if you didn't bring your own bags no matter how many groceries you had. Here I find I get funny looks if I tell them I don't need a bag for a pack of gum. I like the idea of charging people for bags as well. ...

Re: When will my stomach agree?

I've been coming to Peru since the 70's (probably before many of you were born) and travelled extensively throughout Latin America. I thought myself somewhat immune to intestinal problems, having suffered through several bouts early on. Last year proved me wrong. I too endured almost 3 weeks of diar...

Not true! Certain diseases and illnesses require massive doses of specific vitamins, impossible to achieve thru normal eating of fruits and veggies/balanced diet. I wish it was that simple. Thanks Although the original post was about the cost of vitamins, I'd like to see more specific factual refer...

Re: What to Do on Mondays

The higher-end seafood restaurants are typically closed on Mondays, due to shipping and freshness issues with the seafood served. This is not only in Lima, but in many other countries. Anthony Bourdain spoke to this in one of his many Kitchen Confidential books. Here's a link to some information. ht...

Re: What to Do on Mondays

Paint me surprised as well. I'm here in Miraflores and Monday is no different than any other day. Didn't know that so much is closed in Magdelena Del Mar on Mondays. When I lived in Jesus Maria, didn't notice any difference on Mondays either. As a side note, Monday is always "Lentejas" day...

Thanks, all for your input. Seems low, considering it breaks down to 50 soles a day. We finally settled on 70 soles for o...

Thanks much for the info, teamoperu. I will check out the Lan website.
I've been on expatperu for many years, and don't really pay attention to "chi chi's" posts. But some of the newer members may, which is a concern.

Just curious, where did you hear abut this sale? I went on to the website and didn't see anything. I'm going to need to purchase two tickets to Lima from the US and want to get the best price. I'm also a LANPASS member and haven't received any emails about promotions.

Thanks for the information.
