Most prescription only medicine you can buy without a prescription. Maybe medicine like sleeping pills etc which can cause addiction are enforced. If you are currently in Peru, why don't you just try to buy the medicine you need ? Then you know for sure. If 10 people on the forum tell you there will...

Re: How do I get OH! card?

I cancelled my Oh card as I only would qualify for the premium extra plus card, which obligatory came with some nonsense insurance of S/47 every three months. They told me I could cancel it after 2 months and 14 days, but obviously I forgot the exact timeframe they gave me, so ended up paying the no...

Re: Transferring $ from US to Peru

We have the same thing with transfers from the USA. it has to do with the fact that the banks use 'intermediate banks' which also charge a commission. In total the commission is like 81-89 usd. But on transfers of 6-9 thousand it is percentage wise a low cost compared to charging a credit card, whic...

They come I think for the last 2 years. They ring the bell around 3pm on Fridays, and take the plastic bottles and anything we separated. You don't put it outside, just keep it stored till Friday and they pick the recyclables up by your house. Very handy.
They seem to be of the municipalidad

Re: Looking for a place to put money on a debit card

If you want to deposit money from Peru in your US bank account, that would mean an international bank transfer. Very unlikely you can do that without costs involved. But the normal procedure would be that you transfer it from a Peruvian bank to your US account, paying the fees of around US$50-80 But...

Re: Wire transfer from Peru to the U.S.

The max we have been charged to receive money from abroad was US$89, but that included the fee from the other side. So I suppose if you already paid $40, you can expect roughly another $50 from the Peruvian and intermediate banks. ( Yes there also might be an intermediate bank, who also charges a fe...

You should resign from the company, get your beneficios sociales, and a statement of Renta 5ta.
As you no longer work for the company you should cancel your work permit, as it is based on working for that particular company. You can always reenter Peru as a tourist, but you cannot work

I have been in Peru since 1997. The sol has been between 2.55 and 3.60 in that period. It has been one of the most stable currencies in the region. It is now around 3.25. Re: Buying Apartment - Seller Not in Lima

No, for selling a house it should be registered in registros publicos ( Sunarp ) Ask for the 'partida electronica' and get a copy (copia literal) of it yourself in Sunarp. That would be the safest way assuring no document was forged. ( And will only cost you like S/20 orso)
