To top it all off, Interbank did not hit me with an International transfer cost(as was the case with Scotiabank)...which Interbank originally said could be approx' 75 Soles. The on...

Re: Going back to the US -- AFP question

As pension plans in the USA are few and far between, you should refer to it as a retirement account such as a IRA or company 401k. By the way (as of today) a 401k is only worth 320.8k

I have been to Rooster fights in Oxapampa where it is very popular and although quite cruel I enjoyed the atmosphere. Never have been invited to the Bullfights and would enjoy the opportunity if it did not require going to a restaurant and eating testicles first!

Re: HELP! Real Estate Tax Question

A friend has sold two places recently. In both cases he had too pay the tax "upfront" on the morning of the closing before receiving the check. Also, you need to advise one of the agencies (forgot which) of the sale and tax payment within a short period of time or you will face fines.

You can rent a car as a tourist! I would book with one of the european "booking sites" as they seem to include all insurance at no additional cost.

Re: Looking for a place to put money on a debit card

If you want to deposit money from Peru in your US bank account, that would mean an international bank transfer. Very unlikely you can do that without costs involved. But the normal procedure would be that you transfer it from a Peruvian bank to your US account, paying the fees of around US$50-80 Bu...

US citizens have to pay tax on their world wide income no matter where it comes from. But depending on your income you may not make enough to owe any taxes.
