The problem is American citizens are restricted from all International travel now. You are only allowed to return to your country of residence.

I would and do live in the " triangle" bounded by Larco/Pardo/Malecon cisneros. I am 3 blocks from PK , which is a close as I would want to be.

Depends where you are living in Lima as it is a desert. Along the coast in Miraflores (where I live) the weather is beautiful. Warm days offset by Ocean breezes and cool nights.

After writing NVC and the Lima embassy asking for help, The embassy quickly responded and informed my Wife of her interview next month! I do not know if everyone is aware but USCIS is closing their office at the Embassy as of this Friday! Good luck to all. Wait, what? Why? For how long? Permanently...

Similar experience here. In my case the way I read it is I have to wait for the NVC to give me the appointment.

You will be required to file a Fincen 114 yearly and the interest you earn will be taxed as well. The money will not be insured. Failure to file the Fincen will result in stiff fines and possible loss of passport. You will have to pay the financial transaction tax to the Peruvian Gov as well.

As pension plans in the USA are few and far between, you should refer to it as a retirement account such as a IRA or company 401k. By the way (as of today) a 401k is only worth 320.8k
