Re: Only 90 days allowed to US citizens

Has the US recently imposed a similar restriction on Peruvians entering the country? If it's a limitation of 90 days to only US citizens (as opposed to a change in Migrations for all tourists) then it's possible a retaliation against a US policy. That's often what happens, when Canada, US, Europe, e...

I am interested in hearing from others, whether they received the same interpretation upon reentering Peru. From Wiracocha's post, it took a supervisor's intervention to get the 183 days from first ever entry to Peru. Is it recommended to carry a copy of the law in case a migration officer has a dif...

Re: Tourist visa,current Migraciones law.

I have seen three interpretations of the law; including this one which says Migrations will go back to someone's first entry into the country (which doesn't make sense if its 183 days in a year). This interpretation would mean no one could ever come to Peru for more than 183 days. The second, and it...

Arequipa - you can get all of what you're looking for, except for close to the beach - it's about 3 hours away. The weather is good, although it can be rainy in February and March. It's a lovely city - easier to get around then in Lima, great food, lots of areas to live in, reasonable cost. Places f...

Thank you, this is very helpful. Two questions, if you income isn't in US dollars, does the bank have to do the exchange for the document? Also, it seems as if a rentista needs to open a bank account in Peru and have the income deposited there rather than in a home country bank, is that correct?

To answer the question about the 6 month visa - like many things in Peru it depends on the official you are dealing with.
