Re: why properties are so expensive in Peru ?

Lima a city of 9 million people with VERY LIMITED high quality housing. The supply and demand decides this high price level. Do not compare Peru to other western countries. Western countries depend on Pseudo economy called "service", and a social security network they cannot afford (thus t...

Re: How to take a cheap taxi TO the airport?

Actually the government should educate cab drivers giving them access to a table that allows them to calculate how much would be the minimum required to pay. Anything below 30 soles (Airport to Miraflores) is not feasible, the driver is losing money at that point. If people would like the so called...

Re: How to take a cheap taxi TO the airport?

Anything below 30 soles (Airport to Miraflores) is not feasible, the driver is losing money at that point. I often took a taxi from Barranco to San Miguel. About the same distance as Airport to Miraflores and paid around 12 soles. OK, it was a worn out TICO with a gas tank. 12 soles is a bit steep ...

Re: How to take a cheap taxi TO the airport?

I don't understand how a taxi inside the airport can be safer than a taxi outside the airport. Once I arrived at Lima airport and walk into the arrivals hall, there's a bunch of people offering taxi service. Anyone can enter the airport with his private car, park it in the parking lot in front of t...

Oh come on, man. You are trying to make a big profit here. For the same configuration will sell for around 600 dollars in Hong Kong and I am talking about totally new ones. I am not trying to break your business but I don't think it is for this forum. Everything here should be second hand bargain IMHO

Re: mid20's expats!

I know I'm getting old when 10:00 pm sounds late for a weeknight. Especially since I don't have a job or children... Oh and wait, I'm only 32, what is wrong with me??!!! Let's see, I am 29, no children, no girlfriend, and I feel that 10:00pm sounds a bit late. I am officially the worst... But then ...

Paintball!

I have to say that sounds like a fabulous idea. Paintball, then some good beer at a cerbiche in Barranco should be the best way to go. That way we can have fun and relax.

Near the U.S embassy, there is a very good sushi place, albeit expensive... It is next to some Scotiabank ATM machines.

Yeah I like hanging out in toy stores  If anyone wants to organize a meet up, I suggest doing it as a sports event or something, because otherwise everybody would be standing around, awkwardly staring at each other, until someo...

Re: intercultural love relationship -- does it works ?..

If you have to ask this question, then I think it won't work for you. Let's put it this way: the goal of a relationship is to have fun (after all, a relationship really is just friendship + sex), not the discovery of if it "works" or not. When you worry yourself too much of the end result,...

Looking for a mechanic engineer

For construction projects.

I am considering investing in real estate in Peru and like to see if there are any engineers who have experience in construction.

Re: Be my roommate in Miraflore- Lets look for a place together!

Hello,

I am looking for a room as a work space. I have my own apartment so this will only be for limited day time use, but of course I will share both the rent and utilities. I am looking for about one year commitment.

If you are interested my email is [email protected]

Wait, I don't get one part. Maybe I am an idiot but if your wife is the police, not you, so why wouldn't you be able to hop on a plane and go somewhere? Or maybe you mean that you can't leave with your wife coming with you? I am a bit curious.

Re: Exchange student from Norway

I will second Remigius here - I would never recommend for someone to come to Peru for the first time - ESPECIALLY someone who doesn't speak Spanish! - to go outside the airport to look for a hack cab on the street. I know one man from S. Africa who did so, and withing an hour of being in Peru had n...

Re: Exchange student from Norway

A few tips for ya: If you land during the day, find a taxi outside the airport will cost you significantly less. To Miraflores will be 20-25 soles (30 during rush hour and if you are not a good negotiator). If you take the "official" taxi, it will be about 70-80 soles. Yes there is a poten...

Re: US Visa explained (slightly) -- 80% rejected

This thread is very interesting. The U.S consulate staff are actually, in my opinion, a lot friendlier than most immigration officials from other countries. The office of DIGEMIN in Peru is much much nastier towards its applicants. When I apply for my visa in the U.S embassy they usually ask me a fe...

Hi there. I am also looking for hang out buddies. I am mostly interested in working out (I like boxing so if you can spar that will rule) and going to clubs. I am coming to Lima on the 17th. Anyways, send me an email [email protected].com . I have a Peruvian number but some reason it never worked...
