I've gotten 30 days before as well as 90 and 180. Seems that the date stamp is given at the discretion of the agent. I would say unlucky before I would say unfair. Funny, when I go anywhere near those places, they are packed full of Peruvians buying. We went to Chili's for my kids birthday last week, we actually had to wait for a seat. Interesting. From the looks of it, Chilis has done better in Larcomar than TGIFridays. I haven't seen the crowds in MegaPlaza...

I've brought in cameras (SLR's with large zoom lenses) and a rachet sets in my luggage and have gotten the search and not have had any problems.

But I'd declare it for peace mind. Who knows what will happen at customs.

Worse comes to worst, I have a friend in Lima (Los Olivos) that's a chofer. I'm sure he can point you in the direction of a reputable mechanic. You need to have access to one in that industry :)
