Re: Christmas Eve and Day in Lima

You´ll find most places closed on christmas eve as others have said. Larco Mar normally has some different options on Christmas Eve. I had to accommodate a group of travellers last year during this time and sent them to Cafe Cafe which had a special christmas menu. You may have to get tickets in adv...

Re: Craft beers in Lima??

There are currently a few of these starting up in Peru. I actually think in the next 5 to 10 years, there is going to be a large growth in this market. So far, nothing available in grocery stores, just bars. Cañas y Tapas in Miraflores offers a few artesenal beers. Barbarian is a new microbrew that ...

Yes this is a pretty common thing. If you have a connection where you will need to recheck through security on your connection, you are going to lose it. However if you have a connection where you won´t need to reenter security, you should be fine. My last trip I connected through El Salvador, flyin...

Re: Papachos - gourmet hamburgers

I will definitely vouch for the burgers. Not an everyday place as they are a bit pricey, but the variety is awesome, the burgers are fresh and very good. Not to mention they also offer Sierra Andina artesenal beer from Huaraz (amber ale and blonde)

Nothing like gourmet burgers and craft beer.

Re: traveling soon & departure procedures /carnet de extranj

Hi Catt, As limaclub mentioned, it really depends on your situation and what type of carnet you have. This is how I understand it. I have a carnet based on marriage to a peruvian familiar del residente . If you have that, you don´t require any of those papers. Your Carnet, and the form they g...

Re: they walk like they drive

Love this post and can't agree more. One day walking along the sidewalk in Pardo, I could see a lady was not going to get out of the way so i started moving over to avoid her, she kept coming at me, she got so close, she ended up taking the shoe right off my foot and then just kept going, didn't eve...

They didn´t show proof of funds, simply stated that...

Re: Applying for a visitor visa to Canada.

Saying something like "if you're peruvian citizen, you won't get it" is unhelpful and not true. It may seem like that way from people who have been denied, but it is not the case. You just need to fill out the requirements on the website and make sure in those letters they are detailed as ...

I'm a canadian who also received a brazilian visa from applying at the embassy in miraflores. Fairly straightforward process, took about 1 week to receive it. That was 3 years ago.

Re: Leaving Peru on Carnet

I was told by immigrations that I would need these documents to leave the country. It seems weird, which is why I came here to see if anyone else who is also married to a peruvian and working here has had to show any of this information to leave the country. This will be my first time leaving since ...

Leaving Peru on Carnet

Hey Folks, I've been doing a number of searches on leaving the country as I will be going on vacation for a couple weeks next week and I've found some mixed info. I have a Carnet from marrying my peruvian wife. I've read in some places that I don't need to provide anything to leave the country. I am...

Re: Why can't Peru clean itself up a little bit.

I agree that it's easy enough to avoid these things, but that's not really my point. What I'm wondering, is if this kind of thing is so out in the open and clear, why don't the police do something about it, put a stop to it. I understand violent crimes are a bigger problem, but I think that neglect...

Re: Why can't Peru clean itself up a little bit.

It is disquieting to be offered drugs or the services of a prostitute, but thankfully that is as far as it goes. The real problem is violent crime: muggings, etc. I'd rather be approached by 100 drug pushers than be mugged a single time. I agree with this 100%. The odd drug dealer or prostitute is ...

Re: Why can't Peru clean itself up a little bit.

The question I'm asking is why there seems to be no attempt to at least arrest those selling it so openly. I understand there will always be demand, but one walk in the evening through the Plaza de Armas in Cusco where the clubs are and you will have several people offering to sell to you. It is NOT...

You can even get the yellow fever shot at the Lima airport in the medical clinic by the domestic arrivals, though I don't recommend waiting until the day you fly to do this. Take note you need to wait 10 days before it is actually in your system and airlines may actually deny boarding if it's done l...
