Renewing CE

Hello, I know this has been discussed several times, and here it is again. There used to be a document on this website that clearly stated what is needed to renew the Carnet. Could someone please post again? I saw something about a Carta de Garentia or something. What is this? It would be great to h...

Located in CORPAC, SAN ISIDRO My dentist (and friend) is Valeria Villaran. She's experienced and trustworthy. Her English is perfect and more importantly, her office is nice and clean with new instruments. It's like being in a US dentist office which for me is super important. I've had two crowns re...

Re: Thoughts on Peru

Peru keeps an artificial peg to the dollar (fluctuation between 2 to 3 soles) which creates internal inflation because not all the products that are imported come from the United States. I am sorry I'm not an economist could you explain it to me in plain English ? And a source would be nice as well...

Good progress indeed, what I do find to be to be disturbing is the price of EVERYTHING ! Food has doubled, taxis , gas, I am sure the cost of living is up. We bought our apartment 6 years ago, now it's doubled Peru is not the bargain it used to be ,people should realize this before they think about...

Re: Is living in Lima more expensive than living in US ?

the most well known schools are somewhere around $9-10k to enter plus around $800-$1200 per month, Compare that to the most well known private schools in the US. Yes! I know! With that said, you should also compare the average eduction level of a person from a public school in the US to that of per...

i'm totally dumbfounded how someone can say it's more expensive here. i'm horrible with money and spend like a drunken sailor but still spend substantially less than even Gainesville florida, when i lived there. i guess not having kids helps. Of course one can live on and spend less money here than...

Re: Is living in Lima more expensive than living in US ?

here we're planning to spend $500+ per month on schools for our kids, whereas in the US they would probably go to public schools. Don't forget to compare that to the cost of your property taxes and state income taxes that paid for your kid's public schools.... Yes, excellent point. Just did the cal...

Re: Is living in Lima more expensive than living in US ?

my opinion - YES obviously it depends on the lifestyle you choose, and which city we're talking about in the US. My comparsion is Dallas, Texas, and I'm pretty darn sure that I would be in a nicer house, with a nicer car, shopping at Whole Foods and sending my kids to good public schools, and probab...

I have to disagree with the previous posters. You could do very well. There are few English speaking therapists and the ones that speak English charge a FORTUNE! Re: Peruvians denied entry to US for arrest?

I am not an expert, but there are two things that strike me from your post. 1. If you are married, and your wife enters the US on a tourist visa, and the immigration official finds this out, she may be denied entry for trying to migrate on a non-immigrant visa. The officer would then cancel her vis...

Is your marriage legally registered in Peru? if it is, then yes, you have to sign on the sell of the asset, but if not, then no, you have no authority on signing anything. My husband and I were married in the states, but have yet to register our marriage here so all asset sales have been in his name...

Re: Which AFP?

We have to pay around 19.5% of the monthly deposit in commission plus some sort of insurance. Is this normal? Yes, although 19.5% is really high. 10% of your salary goes to your pension plus 2% of a commission fee (depending upon which AFP you have, this varies slightly). Plus about a 1% fee on you...
