I live in MF too and although it is quite safe for the most part I have a friend that was robbed in Miraflores and another mugged at gunpoint in San Isidro during the day. For me this is why my perception of Lima is it is more dangerous as nobody I know back home really worries too much about gettin...

Keiko lost the last election in the second round.. I suspect the people that hate Keiko are the same ones that voted for Veronika and the others. I'd be willing to bet (maybe s/1) PPK edges Keiko in the second round like Humala did.

Thanks for the advice, I prefer to test over Ethernet. I believe they are probably throttling us due to the amount of streaming traffic we use.

My internet is via coax (cable modem) and maxes out at 8Mbps even though they just upgraded it to 40 for an extra s/10 a month.

If you are a developer or in this field, you can probably find a job making $2k USD per month although this assumes you have a carnet. This is based on several people I know. Without the carnet and without conversational spanish, I think you'll find it hard here to come close to your salary expectat...

Before cancelling go to a notary and make a legalized copy of it. It should work for you in the bank. We are looking at having my brother's kids (6 and 9 - USA citizens) spend the summer with us in Lima. Logistically speaking it would work out the best if my wife and I pick them up in Miami and they travel back with us. My brother would travel to Lima at the end of the month to bring them back home....

I must say this to people with peruvian-american dual citizenship: when you are in Peru...you are peruvian and subjected to peruvian laws as any peruvian would. In my opinion, you'll probably want to renew your visa before the new year and the laws change to at least have a better shot at 6 months.
