Prorroga de Residencia

I recently renewed my residency (via marriage) and they've made it a little simpler this year: * Pay the tramite fee at banco de la nacional * Make appointment online * Day of appointment, you find the line for extranjeria (first floor) and they give you a paper with a number on it for your turn in ...

Re: Visa Renewal new Time Frame

I'm tempted to say ... why are people online so defensive?!?! Geez. Get a grip. I have a valid point. I'll just keep quiet from now on and let everyone just W-A-D-E through the same senseless bureaucratic poop that I've waded through. (I thought this was a FORUM. I guess I'm wrong.) We aren't allow...

Can you make it look more like facebook? Kidding.

Might check to see if we can (either mods or other advanced users) tag forum posts and then be able to group them in custom ways.

On the topic of telehuevonica, Movistar is gifting tons of bonuses on mobile plans right. They give me 7GB of bonuses for wireless data each month on top of my 5GB/month plan, I have no idea why. Anyone else know?

Re: RE: Travel insurance required after travel started

I can't tell if this post is spam or not but regardless, they have a waiting period of 3 days so you can buy it but it won't start immediately. It isn't the cheapest option but they seem to have reasonable pricing. There is one point of your post that is entirely inaccurate. They are not donating an...

Re: Lima: 11 people shot during robberies in 10 days

I live in MF too and although it is quite safe for the most part I have a friend that was robbed in Miraflores and another mugged at gunpoint in San Isidro during the day. For me this is why my perception of Lima is it is more dangerous as nobody I know back home really worries too much about gettin...

I was in Chicago last week for work and had the same feeling as you. I don't know if it is more dangerous here in Lima or it just feels that way.

Re: Dual-SIM phone options?

Check out the one plus, https://oneplus.net/2 It would be better to order it and pick it up in the USA. My wife has the first gen one plus (not dual sim) and it is a great solid phone. Her only complaint about it is the camera is kind of lack luster but overall it cost half as much as my iphone 6 un...

The issue isn't having a cell phone here as a tourist non/resident. The issue is the phone companies may not provide you a chip because they aren't supposed to.

Re: Peru Presidential Election

Keiko lost the last election in the second round.. I suspect the people that hate Keiko are the same ones that voted for Veronika and the others. I'd be willing to bet (maybe s/1) PPK edges Keiko in the second round like Humala did.

Re: Cycling In Lima

I think you hit the nail on the head. Where else will a cyclist be able to ride their bike safely? Unfortunately it is to the detriment of the pedestrians. What bothers me the most is when there is a bike lane but the cyclist is still on the sidewalk. Anyways, since the police here don't really enfo...

This so called doubling from 20 to 40 I think is a scam. Our home internet was "upgraded" and the max speed is 8 Mbps now. In my office we have Claro for internet through their business department. The service we get from Claro at least relating to business is almost a polar opposite of Mo...

If you are a developer or in this field, you can probably find a job making $2k USD per month although this assumes you have a carnet. This is based on several people I know. Before cancelling go to a notary and make a legalized copy of it. It should work for you in the bank. This was actually something I saw on the boards probably from Alan which if you go from a carnet to a dni but still have property or accounts linked to your carnet you need to keep a legalized copy ...

Your first post didn't make it clear which is why I suggested xbox/PS. Video gaming is like crack to kids today. If they are gamers then they're gonna be bored to tears w/o a device no matter what activities you have planned for them. No worries that's why I tried to make it clearer. They aren't ga...

I am looking at having my brother's kids from the USA with us during part of the USA summer (at least a month). They are 9 and 6. Minors Traveling without Parents to Peru

We are looking at having my brother's kids (6 and 9 - USA citizens) spend the summer with us in Lima. My brother would travel to Lima at the end of the month to bring them back home....
