NO! When I picked up my renewal passport, the US Embassy did not advise me of having to register my new # with Migraciones or I would be subject to a MONTHLY FINE. When I notified them of this they told me basically "We are not responsible for advising/interpreting Peruvian law...". I hope...

Just trying to be a good expat & share my experiences with others.
I feel the fine is quite excessive versus the minimal cost to comply with the law.
Just another "money grab" by a government that has all the power to do so.

All that was mentioned was a "transfer tax", sorry.

The fine for failing to transfer a renewed passport is currently 42 soles a month for 2019.
Once you pay the fee, your passport is stamped at Migraciones; I doubt there are any further fees.
I am hoping Alan or someone can get a copy of the law & post herein.

We talked to the expert that installed our satellite dish in Huaral.
He examined the cell phone & told us it could be done w/o any issues.
The sales people just wanted us to buy one of their phones.

YES, banking has always been a very profitable business no matter where you live.
From what I understand it would be very difficult & expensive to open a new bank here in Peru.
I would be willing to work as a consultant for FREE, with future stock options for my time.
