YES, banking has always been a very profitable business no matter where you live.
From what I understand it would be very difficult & expensive to open a new bank here in Peru.
I would be willing to work as a consultant for FREE, with future stock options for my time.

Does anyone know if ScotiaBank charges a fee to accept Xoom deposits/transfers?
In a recent transaction, BCP (with a Lima account) did not charge any extra fees for a Xoom deposit.

Was having some upgrades done to my 2 casitas in Huaral & wanted cash from BCP. BCP in Huaral was going to charges $20 to receive $2,000 (1 % of the amount which is a sliding scale) as my account is still in Lima; what difference should it make? $20 is probably the salary of one mid-level person...

50 soles a month for maintenance for a casita & shared pool.
Ours is 62 m2 with no extra land; other options could be as much as 1,000 m2 with a large home.
I would imagine the HOA fees would be more, but not sure.
These are all new builds in the former fruit fields (mostly mandarina).

Expats who have purchased a condo in Huaral?

My wife & I are considering purchasing a condo in Huaral.
The condo offers all the activities of a swimming pool, barbeque area, a jogging path, 24/7 manned security, etc.
The price per m2 is very high but you have to figure in all the amenities.
Any comments or suggestions?
