That may or may not be true. The point is that a bunch of police robbing a restaurant is pretty bad and shocking.

I didn't know there was Chillis in Peru. I came across them in Mexico recently and really enjoyed the Fajitas. There is a Chili's in San Miguel and one in Larcomar (MIraflores) (I have been to both). If you want to live well and your means are limited, best trying to live like a Peruvian or perhaps heading away from the more expensive places like Lima. I understand you can eat cheap if you eat like a local but that means limiting the types of food you eat here, and i've really gotten sick of just having pasta, rice, potato and beans here! I love grilled meat with salads (arabic diet) but living here means you won't be eating other everyday things...

If you want to live cheaply I think you need to go to the provincias. Try Arequipa, Chiclayo, Trujillo, etc. These cities are still a lot more affordable than Lima.
