Having started this thread, I would definitely be interested if it were not for the fact that I'm leaving for the states tonight to return to my other life. I truly hope a book swap can be started and I would definitely be interested upon my return.

Palomino Island tour from Callao

I'm looking for input on this daily tour. It leaves twice a day from Callao for a four-hour cruise. The price is not cheap, $40 a person. I have been to Paracas and taken that sea tour which was impressive and certainly not that expensive, if I recall (it was several years ago). Has anyone taken thi...

sorry to keep switching from the topic, but I wanted to get back to Mammalu from our earlier posts. It popped into my mind overnight that I have an former friend who moved to Long Hill about 10 years ago. Her name now is Kathy Holbrook married to Fred Holbrook. She had two daughters who would now be...

this site is so great to connect with others from different places. Yes, I graduated from Millburn High in 1965, it was then a fantastic place to get an education. I worked at the Short Hills Mall as a part-time job while attending school, couldn't really afford to buy much there, even with my Altma...

Hi Mammalu. Where are you from in NJ? I grew up in Short Hills and left in 1968 for San Francisco. Didn't look back, although went back every year to visit family. Don't get me wrong, the burbs are great for raising families (maybe, depending on the diversity) but when the young-ins are raised and i...

Your best bet is in Miraflores is to look for small places that offer a "menu", typically anywhere from 6 to 15 soles (that's $2 to $5 dollars for a two-course lunch. The first course is usually a soup or salad or a small course, followed by a second course of a more substantial nature wit...

Ah yes, Molina. Quiet and somewhat, shall I say the "b" word. Kind of like the burbs in the good old US.

yes, thanks, that is what I meant. I enjoy the flavor of the Albacore tuna above the rest. I'll just go for what seems the closest. Thanks for your replies.

Absoulutely. I know for sure at the Corner Bar in Miraflores and also big screens at the Atlantic City Casino. It's also broadcast live on Fox Sports, although with spanish sportcasters (ugh) They do soccer well, but just not football.

english books

Thanks for your great suggestions. I did purchase a book yesterday at Larcomar for a dear price ($20 US). I'll check out the Explorers club, I love the idea of take one, leave one. I'm reading Suite Francaise now and it's a fantastic story, I'd love to pass it on.

Hi there. Can anyone tell me where I can purchase books in english (fiction preferred) in Miraflores? I know there is a book store at Larco Mar, which is close to me. Does anyone know if there are english books there? Thanks much.
