Re: Welcome to the "new look"

Referring to my posting of last October, I still have the following problem: when opening the expat opening page page (http://www.expatperu.com), the page looks just fine, but it automatically changes to "http://www.expatperu.com/includes/foros.php" and on that page the "pictures"...

Re: Hiding Internet Location?

I would recommend using FireFox as your browser and then installing the FoxyProxy plugin. I used it to access Hulu and Pandora very successfully I just tried Hulu from the Netherlands using Firefox and the FoxyProxy plugin, but unfortunately it does not work with me. The same happens with the BBC! ...

Re: party venue

Also depends what you are looking for and what you want to spend I married a couple of years ago in Chorrillos/Lima and we rented "Los Certes" at the av. Panama, just opposite Alvarado, room enough for 100 people with tables and dancing floor. But then we had a wedding/catering service to ...

Re: Introduce Yourself!

Hello, my name is William and I moved to Peru a month ago with my wife (who is peruvian) and our two children. We live in Los Rosales, Surco near the Ovalo Higuareta. I am looking to set up a brewpub here in Lima. Before I came to Lima I was running a cafe in Bude Cornwall and before that I ran a B...

Coffee: Trade In- And Export Of Peruvian Coffee

Is there anyone on this forum familiar with the production and trade/export of Peruvian coffee. One of our acquaintances, hearing that we are planning to leave to Peru, asked me to take into consideration to become his agent in Peru. He is a coffee trader/miller, mainly importing coffee from Africa,...

Re: Philips Senseo coffee pads available in Lima?

Tks. Lori! But we are not even living in Peru yet. We are organising our removal to Peru (basicly depends on the sale of our house in The Netherlands) and when I was deciding what to take with us and what to leave in The Netherlands, this popped up. Of course it has no sense taking our Senseo with u...

Philips Senseo coffee pads available in Lima?

Does anyone know whether those coffee pads are available in Lima.
If not, it is useless to bring our Philips Senseo Coffee machine to Peru.

Re: Welcome to the "new look"

Hi Alan,
Although some minor problems (at least for us as end users, to solve might be another chapter) occur, on the whole the site looks more "sophisticated".
My compliments for what you guys have accomplished!

Re: Welcome to the "new look"

Hi Alan, Just deleted cookies, but no change. What surprises me a little bit is that, when I open the Expat site, it starts by opening page: "http://www.expatperu.com" and then continues by automatically opening page "http://www.expatperu.com/includes/foros.php". On the "tab...

Re: Welcome to the "new look"

Congratulations! The site looks very nice and with the extra possibilities it will become an even better way of communication. Apart from the "login issue" (just a minor issue), I met/meet two problems 1) when opening the expat opening page page (http://www.expatperu.com), the page looks j...

Mortgage backed loan for a rentista in Peru

Is it possible/easy to get a mortgage backed loan when you are a rentista in Peru? For instance USD 60/k on a house with a value of USD 180/k? What would be the interest %? Which bank is the cheapest (or probably bether: less expensive) and the best in service and knowledge? What to think about/keep...

Rentista and exoneration of import taxes, Peruvian agent.

We have not worked with her yet. We are still organising to move to Peru. This Peruvian firm is the agent of one of the removal companies with which we are in contact. When you contact Iris Molla, you can mention my name, because I have been discussing the 'rentista issue' directly with her. Hope th...

Exoneration of import taxes for rentistas

Hope you understand (also my bad) Spanish. Below the email exchange I had with the Peruvian agent of one of the removal firms I contacted. The laws are quite clear, but yes, most agents and even the Customs are not aware of those laws. On the 'Expat Forum' you can also find information (that's were ...

Naturegirl, tks. for your reaction! However: 1. Probably not. Best to get the 183 days of a tourist visa, then change it. Which would mean that we have to pay the import taxes on my household goods, which will be quite expensive  . 2. You can get the necessary docs in the Netherlands, but you ...

Dear all We are actually planning to move to Peru. We invited a couple of real estate agents in order to sell our house in The Netherlands asap. Rgamarra and Stuart, Tks for the warning! The reason that I was asking for the websites was more to have an idea which prices for furniture and things like fridges, etc. are to be expected in Peru. Tks. "Canadian"!
But I think that's the Chilenean site (dotCL).
In the event this site also serves Peru, just one more question: what is the currency of the listed prices (they often show 3 digits behind the 'dot').
Tks again!

Does Ripley/Peru have an internet site, where you can buy stuff? The only Ripley sites I can find sofar are Ripley Banking/Credit Card and Ripley Chile. This last site, I presume, only serves Chile? Apart from Ripley (if available in Peru), are there alternatives for buying on the internet in Peru? ...

Building your own house

We are planning to come to Peru somewhere next year and looking for a (min. 3 bedroom) house in Lima. There is a number of options in our price range (max. 150k). Now my wife (Peruvian from Lima) knows someone who is active in (house) building. He says it is a real option to have in Lima a 4 bedroom...
