Re: Issues with Neighbors

I too have a nuisance neighbour and roughly every 3 or 4 weeks he has a party until around 5am with the volume of his super-duper mega sound system cranked up to full blast. And just for good measure, he loves opera and he and his mates love to belt out those pavarotti's, singing in unison with the ...

Re: Taxi Prices from the airport

The airport doesn't do taxi drivers a favour by allowing them to pick up passengers, Oh come on! You're saying that the regulated airport taxi's don't pick up people on their way back to the airport because ''they're not allowed to''. I was in a taxi green two weeks ago as he had a taxi sticker in ...

Re: Taxi Prices from the airport

In light of the recent comments after my other post, I will re-phrase my statement from ''increasingly rich taxistas'' to ''increasingly rich airport taxistas'' who will normally get at least 50 soles per ride to Miraflores (I'm not doubting they only get a portion of that, but it's a decent slice o...

Re: Taxi Prices from the airport

Rip-off Airport Taxi's. Good topic! If I'm making a quick weekend trip somewhere I'll take a combi there and back and pay 1.50. Coming back from Tacna a few weeks ago, I by-passed all the taxi touts at the airport and the last guy even called me an idiot for not going with his 'secure' rip-off servi...

Re: Matute

Yes, well. I did go in to that blindly, admittedly, and no knowing any better either. On the other hand, crime happens in every single place all over the world. Taking precautions is fine, but still enjoy yourself and do the things you want to do. Enjoy life and live on the edge from time to time......

Re: Matute

Hello fellow footy fans! I had the pleasure of going to one of these matches when i was quite new in Lima and had no idea what I was getting myself in for! I didn't realise it was ''el clasico'' (nor what that even meant in Lima, but should have known better) and how the rivalry was between these tw...

Dr Yuen has been seeing expats and travellers for a long time, and has a brand new clinic in Chacarilla for those looking for high quality, lower cost dentistry outside the US and Canada.
You can see more at www.travelandsmile.net
He speaks perfect English too, as do the rest of the team.

Re: Post your monthly budget, Perusta

This is an interesting thread. We should start another named ''wholsesome, cheap dishes for the family'' and all put our best, home cooked recipes that can be done on a budget! Something like the local ''20 lucas'' program on tv where they have to make a complete meal for 20 soles - starter, main, d...

Re: Struggling to adjust to life in Lima...

I agree with a lot of things on these posts - Lima is expensive, pay poor and local people you make friends with or family of girlfriend will at some point or another ask for money which is particularly uncomfortable, but part of life here (and they have no shame in asking, either). Expect it to be ...

Re: Why Miraflores?

Interesting topic. I love Miraflores and have lived here for about 6 years now. And I love it for lots of different reasons Here's a few of them; Great, well maintained large clifftop parks, lots of security - not just piles of Serenazgo's patrolling the streets, but cops too which you don't seem to...

Re: Work visa - better to start on tourist or business visa?

It would be interesting to see if someone that had say, an 8 day visa given to them wrote a ''1'' and ''3'' on either side of it to give themselves 183 days...? Do they actually log in their computer that they've given you an 8 day visa or any specific amount of time? I'd imagine not. Just a thought...

Re: 5 a side football (Soccer) anyone?

Excellent, looks like it's going to happen! My son will come too (most likely), he's 19 and a very good player... he puts me to shame every time! The pitch by parque Maria Reiche (Just off block 9 of Av. Ejercito) is fairly new, enclosed by a tall fence and has synthetic grass. Plus, there's a place...

Re: AVOID THIS TRAVEL AGENCY and KUDOS INTERBANK

I used Fertur Travel several times and have only ever had good experiences with them. Quick, efficient, good prices and good service. I, my friends and also family booked with them and had no problems and everything went like clock work during our/their trips around Peru. I thought they were rather ...

Re: permiso para firmar contratos

I've had two of these stamps for buying property (both dated for only a one month period) and never been asked to present any special papers when leaving the country.
A labor contract? What's this? The same as an official work contract from a company? Or something different?

Looking for a surf board, or maybe two

Hi all,
Looking for a surfboard - nothing flashy, I'm a beginning.
Two would be better, one for me and one for my son (2 adults)
If anyone has one they are looking to offload, let me know please.
Thanks,
