You have to give your fingerprint to sign just about any important document in Peru including your carnet as pointed out. We'd be foolish to think that isn't scanned and available for the USA to obtain.

I try to be as inconspicuous as possible when I'm walking around with my camera and use a canvas bag that doesn't look like a typical camera bag. Still, I've got a few thousand dollars worth of equipment that I'm walking around with and it has me thinking about insurance should anything bad happen....

I agree and do find their a/c policy kind of strange, however it is posted on their website. This is actually one reason we stopped using them as that policy makes little sense.

I regularly run on/around the beach from Miraflores to Chorillos and back. During the day I doubt you'd ever have an issue, but at night there are some stretches that are dangerous and dark.

I think in practice the rule is you can get up to 183 days on your visa. There are no visa extensions. You can leave the country and come back in and start the process over. The number of days you receive on your tourist visa is at the discretion of the officer. They can give you whatever they want....

Both Wong and Vivanda regularly carry corn tortillas. They cost about 7 soles for a bag (aprox 8).

Has anyone ever seen steel-cut or irish oats (same thing) in Lima? Standard oatmeal (Quaker) is steamed and rolled and steel cut oats are just cut into little pieces and are crunchy.
