I'm looking for high end Peruvian chocolate. Any ideas where I can get it?

Piura has the "legendary white chocolate" thought extinct for 100 years. In Lima I think you will be able to get this from either Astrid Acurio or Sandra Plevasani, can't remember which.

Check out Guanni Chocolates: http://usa.guannichocolates.com/guanni/peru.html

They just opened on Conquistadores cuadra 9 in San Isidro, about two blocks up from the Ovalo Gutierrez. They sell fancy (and expensive) chocolates that have Peruvian ingredients like pisco, aji, camu camu, quinoa, etc...

The best is by far La Iberica chocolates...they've won international awards. They are base din Arequipa (in a million locals) but are sold across Peru.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I will try them out, one by one, otherwise I soon have to roll. Yesterday I have been to Miraflores and by chance discovered a shop called Xocolatl. It's in the same street like Minerva off Parque Kennedy. The chocolate and pralines I bought there where fantastic.

I also enjoyed Orquidea chocolate while in Tarapoto but haven’t found it in Chiclayo. The factory is exporting to the US but appears to have limited or no outlets in Peru. Puzzling.

I second the recommendation for La Iberica. Their dark chocolate with orange peel is fabulous.
