Thoughts on IVF In Lima

Postby puas2021 » Wed Nov 09, 2011 1:14 pm

Hello everyone,

Dont know where to post this so here it is - pls move it to another board if needed.

My husband & I have been married for well over 10 years and have been trying to have a baby for what feels like ages ! We are both in our 40s - I have done every tests available over the years (and so has he), all that I have heard is that we are both good and the docs who have attended to us just asks us to keep in trying.

We moved here in June this year , he works and I dont. He has his CE and mine is under process. He has his insurance with RIMAC and I will have mine (from his work ; as his' dependant) but I am sure the medical / insurance will not cover the cost of what we have in mind - IVF .

We've just been talking about it so much of late, and we are seriously thinking of giving IVF a try. I want to know your thoughts on this - is it safe to do it here? How much will it cost? I looked up CEFRA & Clinica Miraflores and will probably go with either one of them.

Please let me know what you think? Or if you know anywhere else besides the 2 that I have mentioned that either you or your friends may have gone to.

Thanks

I have a friend that has Pacifico, and they covered IVF, so I wouldn't rule out the possibility of having your insurance cover it. Good luck to you, and I hope you get the BFP you are looking for!

Hi, Bit late in seeing your note but I highly recommend Dr Ernesto Escudero, who works out of Clinica Miraflores. He speaks fluent English and is abreast of all the latest thinking in this area. I have done the treatment once before in "the first world" so I felt I could compare the care I received and it was excellent. Plus, it worked!

Tks Cally, I had my 1st visit a week ago with Dr. Christian Beuermann from the same clinic. I actually picked out his name by doing an 'eeny meeny, miny, moe´ from their website. Shhh ! :-o Wish I had known a little earlier about the Dr who treated you tho. I am just glad to know that your experience there was good - gives me more confidence.

Hi! I'm so glad it's working out for you. It's such a difficult time, I know, and it can feel worse being far from family and friends and from a medical system you're used to. I am sure that your doc is of similar standard if they work from the same clinic. We actually had retrieval and transfer at Clinica Pranor, directly behind Clinica Montesur, so am assuming the two are linked. Good luck!

What is the price range for IVF here in Lima? Can you give us an idea?

I should know the amount by the end of the month, if not, 1st week of Feb. At present, its just a whole load of blood tests and stuff that's costing us from S$59 - S$600.

Will let you know.

It worked out between $5,000 and $6,000 for us. Lots of drugs and appointments. This is not bad internationally ... espec compared with the US, where it can be $20,000 or more a go; or private clinics in the UK... lots of women on NHS in UK don't get the three free goes they are supposed to be entitled to and resort to private care.
