Peru tourism tax of $15 now charged to all airline ticket

Postby chi chi » Sat May 19, 2012 1:21 am

We booked today a ticket with United Airlines from Los Angeles to Lima and noticed that a Peru Tourism Tax of $15 is charged on the ticket.

https://www.united.com/web/en-US/apps/b ... 1uyqkoPPhK

If you tick the taxes/fees on the top left corner you can see the tax charged.

and i thought you were in the Philippines for 6 months ?
is the tax for all flights to Lima ?
i used to fly with Continental before they merged with United and i now see their fares have jumped up in price
since the merger a flight to Lima from the UK is now over 1000 pounds ,looks like the days of 500-600 pounds a flight have gone

Booking a ticket from the Phillippes to Peru is almost impossible and very expensive. The cheapest rates we found are around $3500. The cheapest option is two book 2 tickets. One from the Philippines to the US and another one from the US to Peru. So, we booked via LA and are going to stay a few days in LA. To break the long trip in two.

This is mainly due the ever increasing fuel costs, government taxes and airport security fees. Also, many airports limit the number of handling agents that can operate at an airport. So, handling agents have beefed up their prices.

Rodd, your ticket still costs 500-600 pounds. Probably less, but will all the above extras on top you will pay over 1000 quid.
