Custom charge for ringing 1 or 2 projectors?

Postby JollyMick » Thu Jun 21, 2012 11:11 am

I was planning on buying and bringing a 1 or 2 digital projectors in my luggage for my home and use at the school I will teach at. Can anyone tell me the likelihood that I will have to fees on that when I go through customs?

I am sure you will be supposed to declare them on the customs forms.

If you don't declare them and they are located by customs, you can lose them to the agents or you will be required to pay a high penalty plus the tax. Your luggage has a good chance of being inspected. But, if you are not selected, you could pass through with no problems.....your decision.

Another issue is that you are allowed to bring in gifts valued up to a certain amount.

The likelihood is 99% if you get the red light.

The chance is very small.

I passed around 25 times through customs at Jorge Chavez and never got a red light.

If you always got red and I alway got green then I think the system isn't random like we always thought.

I notice that there are some mirror windows before passing customs. I could be possible that the people sitting behind that window are observing people collecting their bag and they can just push the button from a distance so that some people get red and some get green.

Also, immigration allready has information about people when they arrive. They can see how many times someone has been to Peru and with which flight they arrive. There's also an interpol check. For sure, they can see if someone has had convictions in Peru or somewhere else. Probably, they work in concerta with customs.

Roddd, if u passed customs 20 times and got a red light every time you must look seriously dodgy..........
I've traveled extensively due to my work. For a few years I pretty much lived in airport lounges and I have never gotten a red light.
To say Chi Chi is untruthful is wrong.

The machine randomly selects red or green depending on the frequency they set up... which can be changed for more reds or more greens. Now that thye have both sides with scanners they have set it to more reds than before. Anyone lucky enough to get through 25 times without a red nowadays needs to buy more lottery tickets (I'll go halves) or go to one of those memory improvement classes. :D
