Where to buy car?

Postby gollito » Wed Aug 01, 2012 10:12 pm

Hi all,
I'm moving to Lima next spring time (2013) and as I'm doing my research, I'm trying to find where to look for a car, preferably used, around 2-5 yrs old, not too many kms. Would you recommend a dealer or private party? I think my wife prefers an SUV but we could get by with a car with enough room for 2 kids.

Thanks for any advice,
gollo

www.elcomercio.pe

You find 100's of ads in this newspaper daily.

In case you don't know a lot about cars, I suggest that go take with you someone who knows something about cars to help you check out the car. And especially to check out if the papers aren't fake and can check out if the car isn't stolen.

Be aware that second hand cars in Peru are more expensive compared to back home.

Also be aware that a lot of the cars sold here have been in major accidents in other countries. My brother-in-law just had a car imported from the states. We drove it around last weekend and the frame is noticeably bent.

Just do your due diligence and you should be fine. We've had no problems with our Ssangyong import from Korea.
