purchasing phone cards to make outside calls on landline

Postby calygirl » Fri Jan 23, 2015 4:53 pm

Hi there. I'm having difficulty finding places to purchase these cards. I used to be able to purchase 417 cards at pharmacies, but have been to several and no luck. Also, tried Metro. Someone said there was a problem with cards that many retailers no longer sell them.

Appreciate any help as I'm not able to use the landline in my apartment to make calls either locally or international until I can find these cards.
Thanks.

I hear they no longer sell the actual cards but just the electronically generated numbers like those you see after scratching the PIN space on your 147 card. I stopped using Movistar cards about a year ago (the calling rates are too high for my country, so I switched to Skype calling) but before I did so, I remember having the same problem: couldn't find the cards anywhere until somebody told me about the electronically generated PIN numbers.

They still make the cards.I live in La Molina and am able to buy them in many of the little bodegas, I get one hour of calls to the United States for 10 soles. You might want to try one of the little bodegas in your neighborhood.
