Men and Women

Postby Venus1 » Thu Mar 12, 2015 10:57 am

Hi there,
Another question...I'm planning to move to Lima full time. My friend (a guy) might be coming with me for a period of time but I've heard that in Peru, it is not acceptable for men and women to live together unless they are either married or in a committed relationship.
Is this true? Will we be breaking some cultural norm if we cohabitate but aren't "together"?
Thanks!

Why would you care about what people think about your private life? I wouldn't.

Don't worry about living together with your friend. Peru isn't Saudi Arabia.

Some say no:

Philip

Others say yes:

I respectfully disagree with the first guy and agree with the second guy 100%. I say do what makes you happy.

Exactly. To OP: Why would you care what some gray haired extremist Catholic Peruvian stranger might think about your private life?

It might not be considered acceptable for some young girls by their fathers. Unless your father is a religious Peruvian conservative, there is nothing to worry about. It's not like the townspeople are going to stone you. Chill.
