Travel Insurance, valid in Europe

Postby JanD » Thu Apr 16, 2015 9:36 am

I don't have a Health Insurance here in Peru.
But as I will travel to Europe the end of next week for two months, I prefer to have a Travel Insurance for this period.
Does anyone know were I can take out a reliable travel Insurance?

Apparently the Travel Insurance " https://www.insureandgo.com/travel-insurance" is only available to customers residing in the UK/Ireland/USA/France/Australia.

Last time I travelled to Europe I used Segurviaje on Av Pardo in Miraflores. They are part of Mapfre and I believe that they are reliable, but thankfully I didn't need to put them to the test.

I've used these guys:

http://www.hccmis.com/

but never had to actually make a claim so can't comment on that aspect.

I have bought from these guys. The prices were as follows:
EUROAMERICAN ASSISTANCE

13 DIAS
TARIFA: USD 72.00

30 DIAS
TARIFA: USD 95.00

Thankfully, I never needed to check their level of service.

Say, have any of you ever needed to use the travel insurance that you get when you buy your ticket with your Visa card?

If you have a Platinum or Signature credit card, it has travel insurance included. My Signature card even gives the Schengen travel insurance voucher, which is necessary if you travel as a non-EU tourist to Europe.

My wife and I always use the Amex and never had a problem. I once had to claim for Delhi Belly in the Dominican. I was on a drip for three days. They only accepted cash or card, but I was refunded in full within three weeks.

Tks all for the info!
In the meantime I also found some Dutch companies who offer that kind of Insurance at a very competitive price.

Be carefull with Dutch travelinsurance. They usually only apply for people actually residing in Holland. ( Because basically the travelinsurance won't have to cover medical costs, as your standard Dutch insurance would cover that ) But in the case of a Dutch expat, a standard Dutch travelinsurance is worthless !

I bought also several times with http://www.hccmis.com as mentioned by Gerard. They are very cheap and you can buy it online.

Hello Fanning,
you are right but there appear to be some Dutch health insurances intended for foreigners or Dutch living abroad.
I selected one on this site: http://www.reisverzekeringblog.nl/reisv ... enlanders/
