Titicaca

Postby captcosmic » Mon May 25, 2015 11:30 am

Has anyone stayed at a nice hotel near Juliaca, Puno and Lago Titicaca? I see the Libertador looks nice. Any recommendations?

Sorry, stayed in a budget place that was nice a few years ago. Don't know how much it's changed. I've put the address below just in case.

If you want something nice, you probably can't go wrong with the Libertador. There's also a couple of Casa Andina and I've heard the Casa Andina private collection is nicer than the classic.

If you want a really memorable place to stay, you could try a night aboard the Yavari. It is a 150 year old British gunboat which was carried in piece by piece by some very unfortunate mules.

Thanks Everybody. I was leaning toward Libertador. I don't think my wife would go for staying on the boat. :)

2 years ago we stayed at the Qelqatani Hotel in Puno and found it excellent. They arranged a great day out on the lake for us visiting the Uros Islands then Taquile Island. The hotel was $58 per night then. Very nice hotel in my opinion.

No problem. Taquile Island definately worth the day visit in my opinion.
