Locating a Lima resident by the address

Postby david1953 » Sat May 30, 2015 2:44 pm

I lived in Lima for 2 years , as a child, when my father was stationed at our country's embassy in Peru.
I am now planning my first visit to Peru after more than 50 years.
I want to visit the home where we lived and wish to contact the current resident to explore this possibility; however , I am unable to find a " reverse" on-line directory which would lead me from the street address , which is on Manuel Gonzales la Rosa , San Isidro, to the name of the current resident.
Can someone point me to such a directory?

Try to Google the exact number and street address. It might lead you to a web site.

Find San Isidro on Google earth and Just type the house number and street name into the search engine. Unfortunately you'll probably find that if what you used to live in was a nice old house, it is now a horrible concrete apartment block.

to the two respondent members: I do see my old home in Google Street; it is adjacent to what is now the Indian Embassy and the facade does not seem to have changed in over 50 years. Next door, i can spot two small shops, exactly where a verduderia and a bodega stood in those days.

Through Google I was unable to find the identity of the current resident.

In the US , one can obtain property information, including the owner's name by entering the property address in the County (property tax) Assessor website. Does the Lima government support a similar website? If so, what is it called?

In the municipality (of Miraflores, so certainly also of San Isidro and other parts of town) they have a registration of the properties and the owners, also used for collecting taxes.
I presume that the registration key is the property.
But I think it that you can do a search on (correct) name, f.i. to know "who" owns "which" properties.
But I don't know whether you wil have access to this information.

Well, that wasn't too difficult ..

Just look at the White Pages ( the good old phonebook )

Dear forum member fanning:thank you for directing me to the current resident. You made my day!
Indeed, the home number is and was then 365, expect that in 1960 the street was named avenida espana.

I would greatly appreciate your help with one more step: can you please help me locate an e-mail address for either one of the Bugosen family members who reside at that address? I would like to contact them.

Dear forum member fanning: thanks again for your research. Now comes an even more difficult part, which is convincing the home owner to let me -a total stranger-into his home when I come over to Peru .

OP keep us posted. This is a very interesting dilemma that would make a great feel good story.

Consider that Cafeladeria 4d has a Twitter account. Perhaps a quick mention on their account directing them to this thread could do the trick.

Don't underestimate the power of social media.

I´d suggest a mailed letter explaining who you are, and bonus points if you can include a picture of yourself as a kid, preferably one taken in the house. It´s likely that they also have an interest in the history of their home, too, so you have that going for you. Good luck!
