I quit about 3 months ago and I consulted my Therapist before quitting about the various methods "patches, cutting back, Hypnosis, etc, etc... He told me none of them worked and said studies proved that the ONLY thing that works is going "cold turkey" which had NOT worked for me in the past. So I went on an internet search and found this and BOOM it worked. http://www.helpguide.org/articles/addiction/how-to-quit-smoking.htm
The Log was really useful. I decided when I got cravings to take walks and planned a route that did not pass Bodegas that sold Cigarettes. Also brush your teeth really good and floss the night before your quit day or even go to a Dentist and get a cleaning.
Weight Gain, this was really scarey for me because I have lost nearly 40 kilos since November and I had ZERO interest in gaining any or all of it back. My weight loss did stall but I am now back on track losing an average of .73 kilos per week I like Carrots, Apples, and Pears so I used those when I got cravings
Finally, what really helped is going to bed every night at 11 p.m. every night I did use some sleeping pills to assist me in the beginning but now swim right before bed and that gets me sleepy. I view myself as a recovering Cigaholic. I avoid any and all areas where smoking is allowed because I nearly bummed one. I think in due time I can lighten up but for right now I am being very strict.
