INTERPOL paperwork before Resident paperwork? Is it possible?

Postby MJoyLaufer » Thu Jun 23, 2016 1:42 pm

Hello all,

I was wondering if one needs to begin the resident paperwork, ie have the code number from the immigration office before getting the paperwork done at INTERPOL? I hear they are completely separate entities.

Thanks much!

I recommend doing it before so that when you apply you can hand in the interpol results. Saved me some time. Note that the Interpol results are valid for 3 months (could be 6 months as well).

I have just decided to try for residency myself. My question is, do you actually need to take anything in particular to Interpol? Initially, I was thinking of having most of my paperwork with me just in case, but this "convenient post" has opened up the question I was pondering. Also, is their a waiting period for the Interpol Ficha de Canche, which requires us to do a second visit to their offices.

1 Center pool finishes its investigation you will need to return to their offices to pick up the results. If memory serves that is usually 2 or 3 business days. That's what happened in my case.

I believe you need to start the resident paperwork first as they request your application number to begin the process.

Thanks cariboso. Unfortunately we now have two opinions, so can anyone else help with the procedures required?

OK cariboso, sounds good enough for me, thanks. Was there any other information you needed to take to Interpol besides the application number. Myself and others will appreciate your information.

Passport, Declaration Jurada , Passport Photo, and if from US need to obtain a certified check to send to FBI for criminal search record. Also need to
bring receipt from BdeN showing payment for procedure. Be sure to go in morning as they close at 1:00pm

My process was:

1. Make appointment at Migraciones
2. 4 days before Migraciones go to interpol, fill out the paperwork, teeth examination, fingerprinting, etc. Be there as early as possible. Q's are long.
3. Pick up the Interpol results and go to Migraciones for your appointment. Hand in all paperwork. Make sure you have the 'permission to sign documents sorted out beforehand!
4. Wait 2 weeks to get Migraciones results (email). Migraciones gives you an application statement with a number. You can use the number on their website to track the application process/progress.
5. Pick up paperwork + carnet card.

Bring lots of copies of passport and photocopy all the forms for your own admin.

If you apply for a work visa, do not forget the pay the quarterly fee (US$ 20) and consult migraciones in time (2 months before your 1 year expires).

Remember that if they find a single mistake in the forms/process/etc you'll have to go through the whole thing again. Your Interpol results are valid for a few months.

That is a great help, FDiH, it gives an insight of where we are going and what to do before we go to Migraciones to start the procedure. I will do a post myself when we have progressed through the system.
