US Football

Postby gringomisio » Tue Aug 15, 2017 9:39 am

Hey Everyone,

I hate to be "that" person from the States but with the upcoming US football season, I'm curious to see if anyone has found success in finding a place that shows games on Sundays. We live in Pueblo Libre but would head towards Miraflores or Barranco for some good sports bar type options. I'm sure this has been discussed but know that this may change year to year.

Also as a sidebar, if anyone would be interested in forming an ESPN expat fantasy football league I could organize. Send me a PM if you're interested and I'll give you my number. I'm looking for 9 to 11 others. Thanks all for putting up with this year -- you never know what you'll miss from back home.

Hi.... "The Corner Bar" on Larco street seems to be the standard response.

I can vouch for the corner, it's pretty good, shows all types of sports. BTW, I'd be down for the fantasy league if you're still forming it. And if going down there is a bit far, check NFL gamepass, the price is somewhat reasonable and you can watch from home and watch whatever game you want.

Thanks for the tips on the corner bar and gamepass. I think we'll end up heading down to the corner bar on Sundays for a few games during the season to see how the scene is and see if we can meet some fellow Pats fans.

I ended up finding some friends back in the States for a fantasy league last week and we're filled up since the season's underway. Cheers!

Good place to watch NFL football.
George is a good guy & loves his Dallas Cowboys; very knowledgeable about the game.
George served his country as a former Marine - thanks.
Best wishes to everyone & may your favorite team do well in 2017.

Brian,
Hope you managed to find the games. I live near the Corner Bar and it is definitely a reliable place. I also go to the Thunderbird Casino on Benavides con Alcanfores in Miraflores. Definitely a good spot for playoff games and the Superbowl. I also use GamePass, though, which is really great and I think it's worth the money, especially because you can watch the game in 'condensed' mode the next day and any time after that, which cuts out the commercials and dead ball time. It makes watching the entire game take 40 minutes. Being able to switch between live games is also a plus, and there is a phone app, which comes in handy sometimes.
I'm from Massachusetts and have been a long time Pats fan. I'll actually be going to a game at the end of the year when I visit my father for Christmas this year. Should be fun. Take care and enjoy another great season...
