Returning to Peru after spending almost 6 months in a 12 month period - tourist visa
The latest rules dictate that a visitor can not stay for more than 6 months in a 12 month period.
(Ley de Migraciones - D.L. N° 1236)
Can anyone confirm if this is per calender year (January - December) or just within a 12 month period?
I spent some time in Peru from November 2016 to May 2017, but in that time I also went to Chile and Bolivia.
I was given 60 days on the 6th April whilst entering Peru via Bolivia and left the country on 23rd May. This was my last visa given to me. They based this on my time already spent in the country since November 2016 therefore I believe the rule applies per 12 months and not per calender year.
By my calculations I've spent = 4 months and 7 days in Peru** this calender year.** of 2017.
Since November 17th 2016, I've spent = 167 days.
I left Peru with 14 days remaining on my 60 day visa on the 23rd May 2017
Therefore - does anyone know - would it be a safe bet to fly in after the 17th of November 2017? My original entry in to Peru was the 17th of November 2016.
Or 6 months AFTER the final 60 days (so after 23rd November)?
I would only need 30 days or less for this current trip - I can't see it being a problem on around the 19th of November, being as my original entry date was the 17th November 2016.. ?
Thanks for any advice.
