A friend of mine got a Peruvian Driver's License and took the written exam online. Does anybody know about this?

Excellent, you can then use Google Translate to help you with your Spanglish.

Hi. I looked at the website (http://www.gob.pe/196-examen-de-reglas- ... ir-brevete) and didn't see any mention of an online option.

I wonder if your friend wasn't referring to the mock exams you now access online? (https://sierdgtt.mtc.gob.pe/)

Please let us know! I'm also looking for driver license in Peru. Is there an option to buy it online? Or where do I go to pay for it in person and how much does it cost? Anybody know a reliable driver license guy?

I have bought 2 of them over the years. I seem to recall paying S/.350 or so,and maybe another S/.100 to my contact. Never use in Peru, but rent cars in the USA all the time with them.

I'm just going off of memory here, but I believe you can drive with a foreign driver's license as you have your passport with you and it indicates that you have not been in the country for more than six months, and that you are not in the country as a resident. If you are in the country as a resident then you are required to have a Peruvian driver's license. And if you are in the country as a non-resident for over six months then you probably overstayed your visa and have other problems ;-)

As far as getting a Peruvian driver's license, if you have a foreign driver's license and are willing to jump through all the necessary paperwork hoops you can avoid taking the actual driving test. That may or may not be worth the bureaucratic hassle depending on your situation. You still, however, must pass the written test (or pay some $$ to the numerous people wandering around the written test center who offer faux-classes that will exempt you from written test... but of course after you pay the money you don't actually have to go to the class). I just translated the test questions to English and then took the actual test in English as well, which is an option.

Awesome, thank you for that answer, I feel more relieved, as I have not been here for 6 month yet since my re-entry.

I'm weary of bitching and moaning about all bureaucratic bullshit in my home country, at least in Peru I can just pay them off, so I welcome that faux class.
