Type 1 Diabetic - Insulin Availability

Postby Quitou » Sun Dec 30, 2018 10:17 am

I am a professional journalist with extended assignments in Peru next summer. I'm also a type 1 diabetic and need insulin.

Does anyone know if insulin and various other diabetic supplies can be purchased in Lima without a prescription? I have one from my US based doctor, but not sure if that will suffice.

Does anyone know what the costs for insulin is, in particular Humalog quickpends.

My wife gets her dad's insulin pens from Farmacia Universal (http://farmaciauniversal.com/index.php) and says they have never asked her to show a prescription, although her dad does have one. He uses these:

But she says many different types of pens are available. Cost is around 70 soles for the pens she gets.
