Documents Needed for Rentista Application

Postby edgeclinger » Sat Feb 06, 2010 9:54 am

My husband and I will be returning to Peru in June and will be applying for rentista status once there. I have read everything I can find about this online and am trying to make sure we have all the required documentation with us when we get there. I had planned to request certified birth certificates and marriage certificate from back in the states where they were issued. But suddenly it occurs to me that nothing that I have read has mentioned needing these documents. Can anyone verify that they are not needed?
Thanks
Laurie

Based on the Digemin website (Immigration Office) you need the following:

I did a quick translation for you based on what I found in Spanish:
http://www.digemin.gob.pe/inm_sv_mostrar.asp

Hope this helps:

Here is what you need:
1. Fill out Form F-007

2. Make Payment of S/. 58.32 to Banco de la Nacion for Application Fee

3. Copy of your passport

4. Sworn affidavit expressing your interest in obtaining a rentista visa
(Note: They have a set form to use..You just need to fill in your details)

5. Sworn affidavit in which you state that you don´t have prior criminal record, court judgements either in Peru or internationally.
(Note: They have a set form to use..You just need to fill in your details)

6. Provide the legal or original copy (proof of document) that confirms that you will receive a monthly pension of no less than $1,000. The document of proof must be notarized by the Peruvian Consulate and the Minister of Foreign Relations in the country where the funds originate. As an option, the same document can be notarized here in Peru by your consulate government office.

7. Bank receipt from the bank transfer showing that the pension money enters a banking institution in Peru
*For each family dependent visa where they will be filed as a dependent by you, you must show $500 more of monthly income for each addition dependent.
*Documents that are in a foreign language (languages other Spanish) must be translated by a certified translator here in Peru.

This information was found under the Rentisa Visa Section of Digemin´s site:
Visas:

GENERALES:
*Formulario F-007. Imprimir formulario gratuito

George

Thanks, George. That's what I thought I was reading. So I guess I don't need to bother with obtaining certified birth certificates and marriage certificate. And it sounds like everything that needs to be done can be done after we arrive back in Peru.

Does anyone know how insistent Peru immigration is with the bank transfer to Peru business? I receive a US government pension, but the US government does not directly deposit funds to Peruvian banks, and I don't want to give up my direct deposit. So I'm wondering if proof of withdrawals from Peruvian ATMs will be sufficient in this case (I suspect it will not be).

I've tried asking the question on the web but it appears their site is glitched. I'll have to call them on Monday, which I'm not looking forward to, because if Peruvian immigration is like that of other governments, there will probably be a long wait on hold.
