English TV Channels

Postby RyanI » Mon Feb 08, 2010 1:43 pm

Hi all,
I will be moving to Lima in 2 weeks with my family from South Africa. I was wondering what English TV channels are available. ie are the Formula 1 grand prix's shown? I am a huge fan.

Also what are the kiddies channels like. My one year old loves the BBC channel - CBeebies - is this available?

Then my wife likes the series like Greys, Prison Break, Lie to Me, CSI, THE Mentalist.

Thanks
Ryan

there are a lot of american tv shows here... most of them for children are dubbed in spanish... but some channels you can change the language to english (SAP) most adult shows are in english with subtitles in spanish. some are in spanish and you can change the language... and there are a very few in spanish that dont change to english.

you can buy most any tv series at the markets (polvos azules, especially) for about $3 per season. i usually do that or i watch my shows online (ch131.com, for example)

Mr Bean and the CBeebies are on here. If you have the speed channel you may get some formula one. Lima is "all CSI,all the time" Miami/NYC?Vegas/ and all the other shows (you mentioned) are here as well.

Almost all the shows on the kids' networks (cartoon network, Nickelodeon, Disney Channel etc) also have alternate English tracks through the SAP.

You're wife will probably find that she's seen the episodes of shows here already - they tend to show them a season or two behind.

And Alpineprince is right - CSI is on virtually all the time, along with "2 and a half men" and "Law and Order". Fortunately for me, I like 2 of those shows. ;)

We get a lot of good NatGeo and Discovery channels, and Animal Planet too, that have English soundtracks available.
