Just arrived in Lima...looking for vegetarian/vegan options.

Peruvian food. Yum! It is not why we came, but it´s why we stay. Let´s talk about restaurants, ingredients, recipes and more.

Just arrived in Lima...looking for vegetarian/vegan options.

Postby joseyliza » Thu Jun 26, 2014 7:58 pm

We arrived yesterday from New Jersey and are currently staying in Santa Anita until we find a place.

Our family (me, my wife, and our 2-year old) would like to find a few vegetarian/vegan restaurants, shops, etc. Any vegetarians here?

Thanks in advance!

Jose

Sorry I don't have any recommendations, but I am wondering - does anyone know where I could buy tofu in Lima?

I've seen tofu in Wong, metro and vivanda in Miraflores. Both the block kind and the dried kind.

There's a few vegetarian / vegan restaurants listed here:

I know VeggiePizza in Barranco are delicious, as well as Sana in Magdelana del Mar

If you have time and you are in Miraflores you can call in at the South American Explorers Club. We have Biomapas complete with listings for organic, vegan and vegetarian outlets in Miraflores, San Isidro, Barranco and Surco.

This. Alma Zen is FANTASTIC. Their menu changes once every two weeks. Raw Cafe on Calle Independencia is also wonderful if you like raw food, they have kombucha, homemade mousses and desserts, etc. Try Punto Organico for special groceries. :)
