Postby Marco3578 » Thu Dec 29, 2016 1:27 pm

Hey expats,

how are you doing? Quick question: which places/ things to do in the beautiful Peru do you recommend me if I want to go to
A. the mountains
B. the beach
C. the jungle?

Looking forward to hearing from you all :)
Cheers! :D

It is a very vast question

It would be better to ask a question about an specific place you want to visit ... or an specific region in Peru..

@Marco3578 I agree, maybe you should be a little more specific but for sure there is a lot to see and to do in this country. I personally love the jungle, Tarapoto has been my favourite visit so far! :) If you want any other tips/recommendations let us know haha (Y)

Thanks man definitely will check out Tarapoto! So far I only know Iquitos...seems like u live longer in Peru than I do :D so can u recommend a website where I can check activities/ tours etc. in Peru (also close to Lima as my work schedule is quite full)? Does that exist here? And I am not talking about viator, often they charge prices A LOT higher than the actual activity provider

Stuff close to Lima, Cieneguilla for a wknd especially when it`s cold here as the sun is out there. Lunahuana, one visit is enough, too noisy now with all the stupid quad bikes but still worth a visit, bit further Ica and Huacachina deffo worth a visit (about 4 hours by bus)
Further out yeah loads of places Huaraz, Churin are amazing...just got back from Tarapoto and bus to Chacha visiting Gocta, Yumbilla and Huacamailla falls and Kuelap )I also loved Tarapoto).....still so many places to see....thinking of Oxapampa in March...anyway I could wax lyrical about Peru for ages but those are just a few I recommend :D

Sure, check http://www.exploor.pe, I've recently met one of their founders during a networking event in Barranco. Their start up exploor is a platform where they promote all kind of experiences, so I guess exactly that would be a good answer to your question  Recently bought Clase de Tiro on their site and was a ton of fun :D He said it would be available in English soon as well...
Now as it is summer you should definitely enjoy the beaches man, south and north of Lima is quite a lot to see! And if you have a higher budget check out Mancora, quite sweet as well!

Although I have been in Peru 2 years, I have hardly seen anything of this beautiful country. Been to Lima, Ica, Tingo Maria and pretty much all of Huanuco state. Mostly business though. I did create a Peru bucket list. Besides the obvious hotspots:

1. Manu national park https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man%C3%BA_National_Park
2. Oxapampa https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxapampa
3.Tarapoto
4. Jaén https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ja%C3%A9n,_Peru
5. Piura region https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piura
