Translators in Lima

Who do you use for your translations? Please let us know if you’ve had an ongoing work relationship with your translator. Is he/she an official legal translator? Where is this translator located and what languages can he/she translate?

Although I have not used his services as a translator ( I used his services as a spanish tutor and interpreter :D ) I have several expats friends that have, and they have a good opinion of him he is extremely competent and culturally sensitive in both business and personal matters. He can literally help navigate the needy traveler throughout Lima society, business relationships, taxis, and hotels in any part of the city. His rates are both reasonable and very well earned.. Thank you Luis. This is his contact information, he lives in Lima, ( E-mail: english-spanish@hotmail.com)

I hope this information be of help.

I heard about him through this very forum, so I decided to give him a try, and I did not regret it! The translation was very accurate (I had it checked by a friend who’s bilingual) and the document was actually delivered earlier than estimated, (65 pages in 5 days, other translators told me it would take 3 weeks at least!!) I thought he was responsible, fast, high qualified so I cannot recommend him highly enough!!
His price I thought was veeeery fair and reasonable compared to other translator´s rates (they were outrageous!!)

P.S: His name is Luis Legua ( I would suggest that you ask him to show you any ID, just in case!)

Would I use this translator again? Simply Yes!

Integrity Tourism & Transportation is probably the best place I have ever tried. I live in Peru now and my Spanish is not very good. So when my sister and uncle decided to come visit I knew I was in trouble! Luckily, I found Eddie and Lisa! I did 5 or so tours with them and was highly impressed each time not to mention that their prices were the best!

It is very common in Peru for people to claim they speak English only to find that when they show up and see they are speaking to an American, their English is not so great. I had no issue at all understanding Eddie (the driver), the tour guide and Lisa who helped me organize everything. Their English was flawless!

I am extremely shy usually and it takes me awhile to warm up to people. I immediately felt comfortable around the staff though. I had Eddie drive us to the Inca Market more than once and he probably saved us a 100 dollars or more! He knew I was shy and would step up and negotiate prices for us quick and easily! He drove as smoothly and safely as you can in Peru and always walked us to our door and made sure we were safe inside before leaving.

If you are like me and your Spanish is not so hot, I wouldn't recommend anyone other than these guys. They were awesome! I'll post their email signature for people to get a hold of them!

Just out of curiosity, how much do you guys pay for your written translations? I do freelance translating, but I've been charging 5-10 dollars a page largely because I don't have a reputation yet. You can contact me at: carneyjoey@gmail.com

I am writing to recommend Luis Legua. I met Luis in Lima. I’m a professional photographer and I had arrived there to work on a story for a magazine. I had been introduced to Luis by a friend who works for the US embassy, because I needed to work with a guide and translator.

Luis met me every morning at my hotel at 8 a.m. to begin our work; he was punctual and professional. We travelled all around Lima over the several weeks I spent there, visiting tourist sites and other locations throughout the countryside. He was really an excellent assistant and translator. During my stay the most important thing to me was that Luis was open-minded, willing to try new approaches to looking at both Lima, and other cities inland, differently; and that he stayed positive. He passed all my tests with flying colors. We worked 12-14 hour days and the entire time he stayed helpful, positive and cheerful throughout.

Luis performed mainly as my interpreter, his English is excellent, but more than that he is a great communicator. He listened to my needs as a photographer (something he has no experience in) and figured out ways to best support my work efforts in towns and cities I had never been to before. For the two weeks that Luis and I worked together I can honestly say that Luis’s effort, communication and determination aided my success that week. He was instrumental.

So, this is my recommendation. I feel that Luis would be an asset to any company or organization. His skills are life skills and they can transcend industries and jobs. Should you be interested in discussing Luis, his performance, or my recommendation, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly. My contact details are below or you can PM me right here.

You can get ahold of him on his email or mobile: english-spanish@hotmail.com

Hi,

I used Lida Neira, lidanf@yahoo.com, to translate a legal document from castellano / spanish to english and am very happy with the results for what i paid. The process was straight-forward: she provided me with a free quote (everyone offers this that i reached out to), translated the document, and then we reviewed it together as i had a question on a couple of translated words.
